And more durable. Type-A and C can be converted... But a Type-A device will last longer.

That's why in enterprise we use 10 Gbps Type A ports still. Even 3.2 Gen 2x1.

This is the kind of device you use at a desk, or with a hub...

All things equal, I'm going with Type A.

Can anyone verify that this works with the new Mac OS (Sequoia 15.1)? I have this gadget I bought years ago (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...=UTF8&th=1) and it worked fine on my Macbook Pro with older OS. Now I can't seem to get it recognized by the system at all.

It's actually a DVD writer. I was trying to rip a DVD using the setup I've used many times before. But I think there's something about OS 15 that is not liking it. Looks like I'm not the only one having these issues:

I have the USB-A version of this which is also on sale. It works perfectly fine in Linux and Windows 10. It takes a standard 12v barrel plug DC adapter (I have a dozen lying around) so you can save a few bucks with the USB-A one without a power adapter (the power adapter is generally only needed for 3.5" desktop hard drives. 2.5" laptop hard drives and sata SSDs don't need the extra power).

Correct, most commodity products cheap out on their USB-C connectors- USB-A have more margin to stay reliable (but I'd seen some made from crackers).

Besides, this isn't using higher speeds, nor USB-PD.

The trick is if your only port available is USB-C, you need to survey/buy/test which USB-A-female-to-USB-C adapter is made well, since it is adding an extra F-M interconnect to the chain that can degrade signal.

Wavlink is a terrible manufacture. Their USB WiFi cards and other electronics that I've encountered often have bad soldering and poorly designed boards.

Do these work with SATA optical drives like internal bluray players? I had one that did and would like to get another.

My WAVLINK AX3000 6E PCIe WiFi Card has been working great for 9 months. My only experience.
