For parking monitoring, does it only save recordings for motion and hits? I would really prefer if it did not save every second for when parked.
Be careful with Parking Mode. I killed 2 batteries (regular ones) on 2 my vehicles just because the cams drained the batteries completely. If you are going to use the Parking Mode, make sure you run your car at least every other day.

A hardwired kit with a voltage cutoff would stop that from happening.

Yes, I have the problem currently with my current dash cam setup. (Not viofo). This new dash cam won't have that problem assuming you use their official hardware kit.

Just a heads up. Best Buy will install this (front + back cameras) for $99. The dash cam can be purchased anywhere, it doesn't have to be from Best Buy.
But that's labor only, right? I should probably buy the hardwire kit from Viofo before hand?

No, it would not. Even if you turn off the parking mode, the camera still drains the battery and eventually will kill it if car is not used for a long time.

Best place to mount your dash cam. Can I mount my Viofo dash cam on the sensor cover behind the rearview mirror? Thanks.

My fitcamx failed. Don't bother.
What happened? Was it obvious when it failed or did you have an event where you needed video and it wasn't there? Did the company replace it under warranty?

What size SD card would y'all recommend? If it's only recording on events, I can't imagine you'll need a huge one. You would pull the card or the camera would lock the footage in the event of a crash right?

The hardwire kits with a voltage cutoff that he mentioned actually shut power off to the camera so that it can not further drain the battery below a certain voltage. That's the whole point of that feature.

It records constantly while the car is on. Just keeps going in a loop deleting the oldest files when creating new ones. The larger the card, the less frequent it over writes the older files, which translates to longer card life and more reliability. I run 256, but 128 would be fine if you want to keep cost down, or 512 if your camera supports it and you want to maximize reliability.

Great camera. Put one in my wife's car.

Got a new model for my car, DroneXC. Dash cam that live streams the video to my cell phone via 5G. So if the alarm goes off, it alerts me and I can pull up live video. The video is also automatically stored in the cloud. So if the entire car is stolen or they steal the dash cam, you'll still have the footage. Tracks the car via GPS too.

Yes, it's more expensive, but dope af.
DroneXC is also starting at $380 - not including the monthly subscription for the data feature to upload to cloud and all the other perks/gimmicks it has.

Like most car parts: the cheaper ones will get you 90% of the way but if you want the last 10% of possible efficiency/gimmicks you're going to have to shell out 3-10x the price.

This one is 2k video at $85ish - which is less than 1/4 of the price of the DroneXC - if your vehicle has a high risk of getting stolen then it might be worth it, but no ones stealing toyota camrys or honda civics.

Size doesn't matter. You want one that with decent write speed. I used Samsung evo in mine. https://support.viofo.com/support...o-dashcam-
