I'm going to assume any case you have on your phone has to be removed. Thinking about getting this as a gift for our son.

That's the case with my first gen. With that said, my (edit) phone used to get pretty warm while playing Diablo Immortal, so removing the case made sense to keep temps down.

My first gen works really well! I mostly use it for playing PS Remote Play, which works well.

I got one from this deal and don't care for it. Google said it works for brawl stars but it doesnt. Apparently android has a work spring but I'm iPhone. Some of the features are locked behind a 30 dollar
Annual subscription. Not bad but annoying. The steam link is laggy and the screen flashes. (I admit it could be my computer but it's frustrating.). I do have a good computer though. I'll be returning mine. Just my .02. I am probably not the target market.

No, not necessarily. The 2nd Gen accommodates many cases and has different sizing brackets to help

For my galaxy note...yes i had to remove case...this is low as ive seen ...nomally gets this price for black friday season

Also...theyve started requiring you to get a subscription now where it used to be you just plug into your phone to play your games
