NVM: these are consumer grade drives not intended for server or NAS environments.

Are refurbished drives good? Isn't that like buying a car with 100,000 miles on it. You don't know how long it will last?

Yes, but they give you 5 year warranty. Mainly for those buy multiples to use in RAIDs. It's not a problem when 1 or 2 drives die depending on RAID 5 or 6.

The WD/HGST 12TB drives are still $79 from the same company on eBay with the 5 year vendor warranty and 1 year SquareTrade/Allstate. I've bought quite a few from this company with good luck. The WD drives are server grade though, and likely noisier than these Seagate drives if that's a concern.

Benefit for eBay for me anyway is lots of cashback options through portals and credit cards. Not sure about the same for Newegg.
