Just returned our gateway this am. After a big outage earlier this week, this AM we woke to no internet. Tmo pushed an update to our gateway and bricked it. Our billing cycle starts on the 20th. Today is the 21st, they said they will cancel it next bill cycle - $46.45/mo for a service that barely worked and now I owe an extra month for a service I can't even use. Before the outage and before they bricked our gateway, it was pretty rough to use it. We could see speeds in the 70mpbs range at most, but it would drop and doing a zoom call across it was not feasible.

Did this last year for a free 43" Fire TV and fought them for 6 months and never got the TV rebate I followed all rules on. Be careful

A 4 series 43" is more of the "current" model, while they still sell the 2 series for ~80$ less at 150$. Just a general idea on value / recency of what you are getting.

my first 5 months of service was great, then it kept falling back to N71 speeds, so I'd go from 350/50 to 10/10mbps. I had it located as high as possible with line of site from the tower .75m away. otherwise signals were great and tmobile was nice enough to offer a gateway swap, but it would keep reverting to slower speed

Used it for one week during a 2 week trial. Worked pretty good with my line of site but nowhere near the speeds of cable. Giant hassle to return and get the 1st month refunded.

Any chance t-mobile will be giving a free cell line away for folks on Magenta plans and such?

I used this service for several months last year just to get the TV. I had to do some local work arounds to get my work VPN to connect correctly. It was a monthly cost savings too over my previous cable based Internet. Ultimately once I got the TV I was ready to switch back to more normal landline based internet, even considering the monthly savings. There were just too many quirks and irks with the cellular based service to deal with day to day. I've not regretted the decision to pay more for landline based service.

they did this a few years ago and i was able to grab 2 of them
doubt that it will ever be offered again. most likely they will discontinue the magenta plan and make you get something more expensive

Verizon is doing this now. new account gets 16 Pro for free. $30 a month plan with autopay per line.

I can do this also with my existing account but free phone is Regular 16. Pro 16 would be $5 a month extra. $30 a month plan too.

I am debating to get the 3 extra phone sell 2 of them!!

I had his service for ~2 years. Started out great, fairly fast speeds, great customer service, cheap. By the time I canceled I had been through three gateways in six months in an attempt to fix chronically low speeds. Customer service finally admitted that their home internet customers come in last when it comes to bandwidth usage so cell plans, tablets, hot spots, whatever else they offer gets priority. So if you live in a high use area (which my area wasn't but then became without any updates to infrastructure) your experience will suffer. This is what I was told I am no expert but I finally got an answer I believed. Good thing was that it was easy to cancel, you don't have any weird service techs showing up doing shady stuff at/to your house, and there was no pressure when it just didn't work out anymore. I would go back if my areas service improved.

I'm in the Houston area and wanted to comment that during the last hurricane Tmobile was the only internet service that stayed up in our area. Xfinity was down for weeks in some cases. Speeds are decent (about 300-400mbps) but latency for gaming isn't ideal. We recently got fiber internet which is obviously faster but I'm still keeping the Tmobile service as a backup since we got it locked in at a $25/mo promo a while back.
Your're still paying too much - T-mobile home BACKUP internet service is only $10 per month if you have a phone plan with them

Been using this since it came out and it's improved quite a bit. It used to drop zoom calls often but rarely does now. I normally get speeds >100 mbps but at times (mainly during bad weather), it drops down to 20-30 mbps. Overall, happy with it for the price. I came from xfinity which I hated (solid internet but kept raising prices)

I use it for roadtrips and power outages. Plug it into a lithium battery portable power station and it works great.
It says it only works at the address you provide

I called and asked for the G4AR with the $35 plan and purchased the eero mech that was on sale in another thread for $279. Was able to get the TV and 150 gift card so hopefully they both come. If so today has been a slick deal kinda day!
