After you place the order, you don't get any Verizon info like your new phone number or account number, so you can't immediately register your new Verizon Wireless account. They don't email it to you (at least they haven't in the last 50 minutes). The Walmart chat representative has no idea and just says ask Verizon Wireless. There's no option to download your contract after your order is placed.
The contract you signed had the phone number. I overlooked it on a previous deal (iPhone 14), this time I made sure to write down the number as well as download the documents during the ordering process (you can't access the docs through walmart after order is placed).

Here's what I would do. Once the phone ships, call Verizon to find out your phone number (they can look it up with your SSN). You can use the number to create Verizon account. For the previous iPhone 14 deal, I created the account while the phone was in transit, paid off the phone balance and disconnected the line. When I received the phone a day later, I activated it on T-Mobile. Verizon didn't charge the $35 fee since I cancelled within 3 days, only had to pay $5 prorated charge for 2 days.

Note: For this deal, I am afraid cancelling early can affect the gift card. I am hoping gift card will be emailed as soon as the phone ships.

It's not worth it to do this via shipping, figured out last time.
I'm the end after fees and all you'll get $250-300 off.

Aren't verizon devices locked for 60 days from activation?

Still worth it if you really need a new phone at $250-$300 off.

I never activated it on Verizon (I cancelled Verizon service before turning ON the iPhone). These iPhones are under flex policy, they will lock to the first USA carrier they are used on (in my case, T-Mobile).

I just had one of two separate orders for AT&T white iPhone 16 128GB get canceled with no explanation. I can redo the order process but was wondering if it was one device per Walmart+ account or if I can place multiple orders per line?

UPDATE: both orders now canceled.
UPDATE 2: Customer service suggested it was due to adding a new credit card and using that card for payment right before ordering.

Worst case savings for iPhone 15 Plus
Gift Card: +$400
Activation Fee: -$35
Prorated Verizon Plan Fee: ($75/30)*20 = - $50
Net Savings: $400 - ($35+$50) = $315

Best case savings for iPhone 15 Plus
Cancel within 3 days to waive activation fee
Day 1: Phone is shipped
Day 3: Receive and activate phone, pay off balance, disconnect line
Gift Card: +$400
Prorated Verizon Plan Fee: ($75/30)*3 = - $7.50
Net savings: $400 - $7.5 = $392.50
Big assumption: As long the phone is activated on Verizon, the GC will come through. The line does not need to be active when GC is processed.

Just to confirm are you saying they aren't locked for 60 days even after we cancel the service and ready to use right away with any carrier ? Also care to share Walmart GC terms ? I couldn't find details about early termination affecting GC. TIA.

Yeah I got it after 25 days last time and Verizon charged some more fees as well.Just saying there is a lower worst case since these online orders are another level of hassle.

Considering they did a hard pull and the amount of time I wasted, felt it was better to pay Apple directly but that's just me.

If you cancel Verizon service before turning ON the phone, the iPhone can be activated on most US carriers. This is how flex policy works. Google flex policy iPhone for details.

Fair points. As far as I know its a soft pull, I agree this is a bad deal if its a hard pull. Bummer it took 25 days last time, was this typical for everyone that ordered? I wonder if some people cancelled service early and still got the GC.

Doing this deal in-store on Black Friday would be painful as well (might take several hours with the crowd, plus the phone might not even be in stock)
