Note: On the iPhone 14 deal, atleast 2 others activated directly on other carriers (1 on T-Mobile, 1 on Mint), so mine was not a exception.
Has anyone run into this issue before?
Verizon unlocking policy isn't clear whether it has to be activated on the original purchasing account to start 60 day unlock timer.
"Devices that you purchase from our retail partners are locked for 60 days after activation."

In my case, it was a gift for my daughters birthday, I didn't want to give her a phone that she couldn't use for 60 days. So rolled the dice, plan to ask T-Mobile to unlock after a couple of months.

- Created account, linked phone, added credit card, paid off line per info in wiki
- Disconnected line by Live agent chat
- I cancelled on Day 2 after activation, hoping the activation fee will not be charged. Bill hasn't generated yet
- iPhone is in transit, will receive tomm
Nov 21 Plan:
- When I turn on the phone, it cannot activate since Verizon line is disconnected
- Will activate with T-Mobile eSIM (a flex policy iPhone can be activated on any US carrier)
- Most likely will not be able to unlock the phone. T-Mobile will ask me to deal with Verizon (I believe the IMEI will be tagged as a Verizon phone). Verizon will not unlock since I never activated the phone on Verizon. Still hoping T-Mobile will be able to unlock after a few months/ 1 year on their network
- I did not want to wait 60 days to use it on T-Mobile, that was my primary reason for skipping Verizon activation
I hope Fedex will deliver the phone without issue. If delivery is screwed up, I might be in trouble - Walmart is only liable for the $20 tax, not clear how I can get my money back from Verizon

I have heard of this resell flex policy before in relation to doing the swim swapping trick with H2O SIM cards and at&t. It was a way to unlock the
Phone immediately.
But I'm a little confused on a couple things, the IMEi check also said that the iPhone has never been activated before ( so why was I charged activation fee)? Also it says that it is locked, but after reading up on the flex policy it seems like basically you can pick whatever carrier you use the device on, however whatever service or carrier you do end up getting first is the service that the iPhone will be locked to.
Which leads me to my main question, because the iPhone 14 is obviously dual eSIM there is no sim swapping. How do I go about getting this device to be unlocked in the simplest fashion ( preferably leaving the box sealed) from the current resell flex policy status it's in.
1) ATT also follows 3 day cancellation rule and do not charge activation fees?
2) unlock after 60 days? I saw folks pointed unlocking earlier does that reproducible and 100% working hack ?
3) between VZ and Att which is easier option to go if you have cancel within 3 days ?
