Jesus Christ this is confusing. $20.25/month for an iPhone 15 seems good with the credit, but does that include a phone plan? What are the costs of the phone plans? These websites purposefully obfuscate the total cost Frown

Spent sometime looking through last year's GC deal from Walmart.
2023 Thread Link

Key takeaways
- For online orders, gift card will take 20 to 25 days
- Line DOES NOT need to be kept active to receive the gift card (Proof 1, Proof 2)
- There was a 3 gift card per account limit last year
- GC email will likely come from [email protected]

Based on this, I am going to gamble and disconnect Verizon line within 3 days. Hopefully GC will not be impacted. I am not even going to activate the iPhone on Verizon, will use T-Mobile eSIM.

Can anyone confirm if I need to maintain active service with Verizon once I receive the phone? I am trying to trade in my existing 13 pro max to receive trade in credit plus Walmart gift card , but I couldn't understand how this whole deal process works 😒.

Very helpful to see. I think one thing to consider is the taxes/fees for the plan itself (part of the costs that would affect the "net savings" calculation) would be different depending on location, but also, I don't think the taxes/fees are prorated if you were to cancel within 3 days, compared to if you were to cancel at the end of the month.
I received my final bill for the iPhone 14 deal. I cancelled after 2 days. Prorated plan was around $5, taxes/fees were less than <$5. No Activation fee.

I bought a 13 Pro Max from FB Marketplace and when i request unlock AT&T says that it hasn't been paid off. Would this phone be eligible for trade in credits with AT&T?

I did this deal last year. The Walmart gift card was in my inbox before we left the store. Took 10 minutes. I used it to buy some Christmas presents and groceries.

We didn't do a trade in. I chose Verizon, added credit card to account and paid off phone next day per the guidelines in this thread. Total bill was around $7 for Verizon service.
Did you cancel Verizon service right after you paid off the phone? I might actually try this if that's what you did, as I'm getting this new phone as a Christmas gift and don't want the gifted to know anything about it (fiddling with activation on their line and whatnot).

For folks who have done this on AT&T, do you get the "Trade-in" option when trying to upgrade an existing line to an iPhone 16 (or Pro or ProMax).

I did a couple of dry-runs and after account authentication, it shows you the monthly cost ($25.81 IP16 - 256GB) and then takes you to the "contract acceptance".

If that's the case then this is a lousy deal. You are basically paying retail price for the phone and then stuck with AT&T for 36 months.

What am i missing!!

I looked at my final bill from an in-store iPhone 13 deal I got in September, and the taxes/fees were over 50% of what a prorated plan would have been, and that is why I thought that the taxes/fees weren't prorated. Plan was active for three days, so probably $7.50 for the plan itself, and the taxes/fees therefore were a little over $4.50.

can someone confirm if i go with verizon, the trade in credit is instant or spread out via bill credits ? if it is bill credit, i am wondering how people are cancelling the plan within 3 days ? is it because there is no trade in ?

Isn't phone already locked with Verizon?
How will you use it with T-Mobile eSIM?

Phone will lock to Verizon only when you turn on the iPhone with Verizon service active. In my case, I will cancel Verizon service before turning on the iPhone.

This is what I did for a previous iPhone 14 Walmart deal. See the detail steps here
