About to say that only ATT and Verizon, No Tmobile. Past experience of buying phones thru Walmart's partner is a pain. Long wait times and don't get what you want when it is our turn.
Not that good of a deal. Even if you got $1500, you are stuck with an expensive plan for 36 months ($2735). Not to mention, the credit requires a trade-in, and unless you trade in a high value phone, you won't get much back. You are better off selling your phone and catching a good sale (or port in deals) to score a discounted phone and use a cheap plan. Nowadays, you can get unlimited plans for $20-25. So, your plan cost in 36 months will be only $900. You also won't be stuck with a plan/carrier, so you'll be able to take advantages of port-in deals along the way, and you'll have the freedom of switching/upgrading your phone whenever you please (and sell your old phone before its value goes down).
$500 Walmart e-gift card offer available November 25, 2024 at 12PM ET with Walmart+ Early Access. Save up to $1,000 in bill credits with eligible trade-in. Additional limitations may apply.

What is the experience with AT$T trade-ins? Some wording says no cracks, but other says no scratches. I'm hoping that means no 'deep' scratches,. but have only ever traded in with Verizon or Samsung directly.

What is the experience with AT$T trade-ins? Some wording says no cracks, but other says no scratches. I'm hoping that means no 'deep' scratches,. but have only ever traded in with Verizon or Samsung directly.
Same as Verizon. Online ones are evaluated by a 3rd Party. if you are not sure, do it in one of the local AT&T Stores. In my experience, if you are nice, the store folks will let scratches etc slide. Just don't expect a cracked screen to be accepted

I haven't done this, but I think this will be the sequence
- Order 1st phone, make sure to note down phone number during ordering process
- Once it ships, Create Verizon account and link Phone 1. Once you link a phone, the account can now be used at Walmart, Best Buy, etc
- Order 2nd Phone and say you are an existing customer and want to add a new line (you can't upgrade Line 1 as the device is not paid off)

Like I said, I haven't done this myself. Maybe someone that has ordered multiple devices can chime in.
I want to thank you again for all your help in this thread! I placed order #1 successfully, have the VZ account setup, found the IMEI in the documents on VZ's site, and have added a payment method. I've checked sickw and verified the IMEI shows US Verizon locked. I'm going to pay off in a few minutes.

I tried to add another line to my account, but, unfortunately, the workflow on Walmart's website requires MFA to the phone number on the account and not the account email address (or just u/p). Obviously, this isn't an option since I don't have the phone in-hand, and if I waited until I did, obviously it would be past 3 days. At this point I'm going to try and pay off phone number 1, and then try an upgrade. I tried upgrade already and it says I have to go to a store.

If that fails, I think I'll need to setup another Vz account in the wife's name since the phone I'm purchasing isn't the base 128gb storage, but 256gb, and I suspect those will be super hard to find in-store.

Again, you've been the real MVP - thanks!

Once I activate the phone on Verizon, can I disconnect from verizon, and use the second SIM slot with another carrier while I wait out the 60 days for Verizon unlock ?
Testing to see if US Mobile (Verizon-Warp) works on ESIM2:
US Mobile eSIM installed into eSIM 2 and turned on, Verizon eSIM still in eSIM 1 but turned off in Cellular settings. Wifi turned off.
Calls work. Texts work. Cell data works.
Settings -> Cellular -> US Mobile shows that the iPhone reads the US Mobile carrier (using their Verizon option) as being Verizon. Carrier Services points to Verizon Services, with various Verizon calling shortcuts and a link to My Verizon.
General -> About -> shows that US Mobile eSIM is using carrier Verizon 60.0, same as Verizon eSIM uses.

Can you confirm what was the total price you paid to payoff the phone since walmart has jacked up the price?
For me, $1,199 for iPhone 16 Pro Max (I ordered it online on Monday)

Any specific service plans needed for this offer?
I used Verizon's Unlimited Welcome, which is their cheapest plan, being only $75/month for 1 line with only $16 in additional taxes and fees in month 1, and $10/month in taxes and fees in months 2 and after.

Last year I ordered 3 iPhones to upgrade phones on my account and the first one went through and the other two were cancelled with no explanation like yours. I was given a similar explanation when I called and they tried but couldn't fix it. I think maybe they suggested trying again later but it still got cancelled right away. I read somewhere else that if you create a new Walmart account it will work, so I tried that and it did. So if you didn't get yours to work just create a new Walmart account and you should be able to order them on that account. It doesn't make sense but it works.
I appreciate the tip to create a new account. Fortunately, after a lot of attempts and back and forth with Walmart via chat and multiple "wait 2 hours, wait 5 hours, wait 24 hours" it was finally allowed through. I will say their chat agents were easy to work with.

Anyone know if there is trade in option with Verizon for monthly credits when you get the new phone through this deal from Walmart?
I talked to a Verizon agent and was told the trade in offer is valid only when the device is bought directly from Verizon. Given my past experience with Verizon customer care this may or may not be true as each agent says something different from the other.

It took me 3.5 hours, but I disconnected my 2 Verizon lines over the Verizon website chat (and was disconnected from their website and had to re-login 3 or 4 times during that period because the website times you out when you're chatting due to "inactivity").

Summary:
Me: Hi, I'd like to disconnect my lines.
CSR: Why?
Me: It's too expensive.
CSR: How about 3 other kinds of expensive cell phone plans, postpaid and prepaid?
Me: Too expensive.
CSR: Okay, I'll cancel your lines, but you're paying for the entire first month bill and you have to keep it for the entire month, no cancelling immediately and getting a pro-rated final bill for only your 3 days of service. That's $110 for your final bill. And your new iPhone will stop working.
Me: Can you cancel it immediately and give me a pro-rated final bill for only my 3 days of service?
CSR: Okay, fine. But I'm not waving the $35 activation fee. Now your final bill will be $55.
Me: Can you waive the $35 activation fee? I thought that if you cancel within 3 days, you don't have to pay the $35 activation fee.
CSR: Okay, fine, I'll waive the activation fee. Now your final bill will be $20.
Me: Why $20 for 3 days of service, but $110 for 30 days of service?
CSR: Taxes.
Me: Can those taxes be pro-rated?
CSR: Nope.
Me: Okay.
CSR: I'll do it on your second line too right now, gimme a couple minutes.
Me: *gets disconnected and then reconnected to new CSR, has to repeat much of the conversation over again, takes another hour*
CSR2: Okay, disconnecting your other line, your final bill for this line will also be $20.
Me: Thank you.

After getting disconnected from Verizon, my Verizon eSIM1 stopped returning a signal, so I toggled it off and toggled on my US Mobile line (MVNO which uses Verizon) on eSIM2. My iPhone is SIM locked to Verizon and should stay that way for another 59 days, but my US Mobile line is working normally so the phone still has a signal through US Mobile. The phones were at locked carrier status 2387 - Verizon locked policy before I cancelled Verizon, and are still at 2387 - Verizon locked policy now, they haven't reverted to 4000 - US Reseller flex policy and then relocked to US Mobile (which would be very bad because US Mobile doesn't unlock phones, but Verizon does after 60 days).

During the course of trying to figure out how to get Verizon phones unlocked earlier than in 60 days with Verizon, I learned that unless you're in the military, you can only do it by going to a Verizon store (not just any local Verizon store, a special corporate store) and paying off the device either in cash, or with a credit card with a chip. If you do it that way you can get an early unlock, because Verizon will know that you can't reverse the charges on them.

Now to wait for my gift cards to arrive, and my phones to unlock.

So is it safe to say that once the Verizon line on esim1 is deactivated, we can activate esim2 with a Verizon mvno such as total wireless and esim1 will still unlock after 60 days? If so, that would be amazing!!
