About to say that only ATT and Verizon, No Tmobile. Past experience of buying phones thru Walmart's partner is a pain. Long wait times and don't get what you want when it is our turn.

Not that good of a deal. Even if you got $1500, you are stuck with an expensive plan for 36 months ($2735). Not to mention, the credit requires a trade-in, and unless you trade in a high value phone, you won't get much back. You are better off selling your phone and catching a good sale (or port in deals) to score a discounted phone and use a cheap plan. Nowadays, you can get unlimited plans for $20-25. So, your plan cost in 36 months will be only $900. You also won't be stuck with a plan/carrier, so you'll be able to take advantages of port-in deals along the way, and you'll have the freedom of switching/upgrading your phone whenever you please (and sell your old phone before its value goes down).

Just a followup:

Was able to close the Vz account last night. Phone #1 is now showing Flex per sickw. Final bill shows <$10 per vz.com

Could not get a 2nd order to process with existing account, so I signed up as a "new" account with a different "home" phone number and email (but same account name and SSN). So far, no cancellation email and it's been more than an hour. Holding breath until order shows preparing per walmart.com. Hoping it's just BF backup in the system.

For others that have had their orders cancelled - how long did it take for you to get notified?

Quote from JollyCrib814 :
Can you clarify? You activated your phone with Verizon, it went to 2387 Verizon Locked Policy on Sickw, then you cancelled with Verizon and it switched back to 4000 Reseller flex policy? Is that what happened?
Order #2 moved to Preparing. Breathing a huge sigh of relief.

TLDR: Since phone is IN TRANSIT, iPhone was never "actually" activated on Vz. IDK if you buy in-store if you can "request" to "not" activate phone at point of sale. Maybe use the excuse "It's a gift, and I want them to know it's not been used"? The key here is to NOT activate phone with Vz if you want to get the code 4000 Flex status. Once you actually activate, I believe you need to wait the 60 days.

Here is how my order #1 went:

Placed online order Wednesday night. Made sure to capture phone number from Walmart docs.

Created Vz account with email address that was entered in Walmart order flow.

Got an email from Vz saying "your account was updated". Associated phone number to online account. Received email from Walmart saying phone shipped. Found doc in Vz account with IMEI. Looked it up with sickw. Showed locked to Vz (2347 maybe). Downloaded all Vz docs since I plan on closing account and might need them later. Per other reports, once account is closed, docs vanish.

Added CC to Vz account. Called special number from non Vz phone to pay off device. Used live chat to close account effective immediately. Final bill <$10. Looked up IMEI on sickw: now showing code 4000 Flex. As /u/unbreakable, I'm keeping the phone and not flipping it, so I really don't care if it's "locked" to my carrier (Tmo) for months or whatever. I can request unlock later, and hope for the best.

If I wanted to sell, I'd definitely activate with Vz, close account immediately and wait for 60 day unlock. Since they are Christmas presents (which is less than 60 days away), I'm more interested in the Code 4000 Flex, and give to kids - even if it "locks" them to Tmo.

Read earlier posts where you add payment method in online Vz account, call super special Vz number from non-Vz phone to pay off device via phone robot.

Keep getting orders cancelled due to "returns violations", but haven't returned anything. Anyone else? Called Walmart CS and they knew nothing...Oh I hate Walmart!

Has anyone who ordered online received the Walmart GC yet ?
Anyone help with an update on this ? Got the phone. Already paid off. Should I activate on Verizon and then reach out to VW chat to cancel ?

Can someone please share the steps for ATT? Few questions

1. Does ATT prorate the monthly plan fee after cancellation?
2. Does ATT refund or cancel activation fee if plan is cancelled within 3 days?
3. How to pay off the iPhone?
4. Does the iPhone unlock automatically after 60 days - if the plan is cancelled?
I purchased one ATT in store, paid taxes, came home created an account, paid it full and via chat canceled the line, the balance due now is ZERO.

I think if you return the phone, the rep told me, any giftcard amount used will be deducted. so there is no way to sham the system.

I have a canceled VZ line/phone with me and I could not buy VZ phone in store, he needed to text the code and I did not have the canceled phone with me, not sure if the text code would work on wi-fi with no cell network.

Thank you. Yea read that. Was just curious if anyone at all has received it sooner at all. Also whether we need to activate the iPhone on VW and then cancel or cancel without activation to get the Walmart GC. People who did this in-store and got the Walmart GC, did they/Walmart associates activate the phone on Verizon/ATT and then give the phone ?

I asked the chat rep to unlock and they said 60 days to unlock. I'm not aware of esim swap? I thought there was a sim swap like if you had SIM with ATT MVNO then it may unlock?
do you have more info on esim swap that I can try and report back? Eventually i want to use this phone on redpocket.
I believe they have ATT and VZ plans but at a much cheaper rate.

I know newer iphones support 2 esims and at least one hard sim, when the phone is locked to the carrier, does that means all sims are locked or you can activate another esim or physical sim with another carrier.

I dont think you can do the esim swap trick anymore since your line is cancelled. you need to do the trick before cancelling the line. Instructions are here (copied over)

I never tried it so I dont know if it works (but it shoud)

How to unlock AT&T iPhone immediately?
Pay off installment plan from MyAtt app or at att.com. You can do this as soon as activated/device ships.
Turn on iPhone and let it activate with the pushed AT&T eSim (should be automatic once connected to wifi). Make a phone call.
Transfer the AT&T eSim to another unlocked iPhone. "Use eSIM Quick Transfer on iPhone" Procedure https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212780
Make a call on the unlocked iPhone. Check in myAtt or att.com and check every few minutes until the unlocked iPhone shows up in your account as your device.
Request unlock https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/ as a non-ATT customer, with non-ATT phone# and email for the new iPhone
Check email and click to acknowledge unlock request. May take a few minutes to receive this.
Wait for unlock approval email. It could take only a few minutes or up to a day
new iPhone will be unlocked once you try a different provider eSIM. You can either use a new eSIM or transfer one from your other iPhone.
If you want to, cancel AT&T service over chat or phone so that you don't go beyond 3 days post activation. If you instead want to keep the service, do everything I mentioned above to bring your monthly cost down.

Edit: AT&T chat is closed on the weekend I called reseller support and they refused to cancel the line and said I had to wait 30 days. I had to port out to another carrier.
Call *PORT on the new iPhone to get a porting pin. You also need your wireless account number (displayed when you login to att.com).
I had a great experience porting to usmobile.com for their 50 day free trial. Just sign up and fill out the details including port (AT&T Postpaid, account number, port pin). Transfer completed in minutes!
