So do you have to be a new Verizon customer for this deal with a WM GC? We already have Verizon. I just want to clarify.
No. You can add line to existing account or upgrade existing line. New verizon customer is not required.

In my case, due to my ssn tied to verizon home internet, it is considering me existing customer and does allow me as new customer. Issue is there is no way yo get pin on internet device as far i know, so kind of stuck now.

Yes. happened to me. Not sure if creating new Walmart account would help, I doubt.
Both Verizon and ATT failed when I tried online, and then, same thing happened today at the store (for myself and my wife as well). After that, I took the T-Mobile route - only available in store. The difference with T-Mobile is that they require 75% down payment. So, I got the 15 Pro Max, 256GB ($829 down payment + $65 tax) and iPhone 15 Pro 128GB ($677 + $54 tax). I'll have to wait 40 days for unlock and will need to pay for the service during that time. I was able to use $500 gift card to make a partial payment for the second phone. Monthly plan for 2 lines is $90 + taxes / fees (essentials saver plan).

** Verizon: How to pay off device with credit card ***
  1. You need to establish a Verizon account
  2. Go to Account, Bill, Payment methods
  3. Add a credit card
  4. If you have other Verizon lines, make sure you verify your Auto Pay is still pointing to the bank account
  5. From a NON Verizon phone, call 800-837-4966
  6. Enter the phone number for the line you want to pay off
  7. Tell the robo attendant "pay off device"
  8. Robo attendant will confirm the payoff amount ($299) and if you would like to process on credit card ending in xxxx (what you have on file)
  9. * Say yes, and that's it.

I ordered the AT&T i15Pro on Monday. I paid it off Wednesday night while it was in transport and the website went from showing 36 installment payments to paid off a while later. It was delivered yesterday and I followed the SIM swap steps to the letter, yet the unlock kept saying "You can't unlock your device until your installment plan is paid off". Based on that, I expected I would have to wait the full 60 days to unlock, but I tried again this morning and it went through just fine. I believe I saw a mention of 48 hours somewhere and that seems to have been it -- I was able to unlock it 48 hours after paying it off but not before. Just throwing it out there, I know some have been able to unlock right after paying it off, but not me. Canceled the line via online chat, she wanted me to call the loyalty dept. but I asked her to do it online and she transferred me to another chat rep who did it. Now just to wait for the $450 GC...
Hey, I tried this approach. I reached till security check step of switch devices. And it says that something went wrong. Did you faced it? What shall I do?

I'm late to the game and trying to get 2 iPhone 16 Pro Max (probably 256gb) phones for Verizon. Started reading backwards and lots to wade through. Will be trading in a iPhone 13 Pro (possibly 2).

Sounds like my only option now is to find a store that has it in stock and initiate a trade in on Verizon by today?

If you're using it with Att… then it needs to be traded at Att. Walmart is just a middle man. You can use either trade in option, but 100% of people will say do it at the store.

Not sure what you mean about switching devices, where? I transferred the eSIM from the new phone to an old 12 mini, IIRC (not an Apple guy myself) originating the process on the old phone, something like add a new eSIM, transfer from a nearby iPhone or something like that. The phones weren't even on the same Apple accounts. Of course had to confirm on the new phone.
