** Verizon: How to pay off device with credit card ***
You need to establish a Verizon account
Go to Account, Bill, Payment methods
Add a credit card
If you have other Verizon lines, make sure you verify your Auto Pay is still pointing to the bank account
From a NON Verizon phone, call 800-837-4966
Enter the phone number for the line you want to pay off
Tell the robo attendant "pay off device"
Robo attendant will confirm the payoff amount ($299) and if you would like to process on credit card ending in xxxx (what you have on file)
* Say yes, and that's it.
Community Wiki is also updated to reflect the steps and easy to find.

I followed above ...
Didn't work me.

Thanks for the reply

yes, I did two days ago, make sure they are canceling service as of today, not end of service month, make them say it.

Your line should go dead within minutes.

No. They can only cancel the line but can't unlock the device. It stays locked for 60 days from purchase then Auto Unlock

Hi,

I'm hoping that someone might be able to help me, please.

I'm looking to transfer my 2 ATT lines to a Verizon account to do this deal at Walmart.com for hopefully 2 iPhone 15 pros or 2 iphone 16s, but since I'd be a new verizon member would I have to place 2 separate orders at Walmart.com to get the 2 iphones or can they be placed together?

If I have to place 2 separate orders is there a way I can activate my new Verizon account to place a 2nd order at walmart.com before I actually get the 1st phone in the mail from Walmart.com?

After I order my first phone how can I get my verizon account activated to buy a 2nd phone from Walmart.com before the deal ends?

I'm actually planning on staying with Verizon (on the lowest plan available) for 3 months and then I'm planning on going over to T-Mobile to take advantage of the T-Mobile Keep and Switch promo to let T-Mobile pay off the balance for both of my Verizon phones (they'll pay off via digital prepaid gift card up to $800/phone and up to 4 phones per account last time I checked a couple of weeks ago on the T-Mobile Keep and Switch website).

Further information:

I'm not upgrading with ATT because walmart.com always gives me a glitch that says that I can only upgrade with ATT in a physical Walmart store.

According to ATT itself I'm in good standing and they have no idea why Walmart.com isn't letting me upgrade my ATT phone with them.

I'm hoping by moving my phone lines to verizon I can circumvent this Walmart.com glitch and jump on this deal.

Thank you for any help. I really appreciate it!

I am so lost in the process can anyone please help me worship ?

I have a note9 as well as a note20 ultra that I could trade in.

I would be interested in iphone 15 pro max, s24 ultra, or s24+ - that I could eventually take to mint mobile or similar

1) I found the terms for ATT in post 1, it looks like I could trade in note9 for s24 ultra for $800 credit + $500 gift card; keep service for 30 days then pay off/cancel? But it says "bill credits may cease"

2) when do you need to trade in phone? if I need to send phones ASAP, could I do this and retain my old numbers?

3) If I am hoping to cancel and pay off (assuming I still get trade in credit), any benefit of going with verizon or att?

4) are the trade in credits the same for verizon? I see info for ATT but not verizon

5) if out of stock locally, can I buy online and still get $500 GC + trade in?

Imo, if you want to NOT be locked in a 36month contract that you can't buy your way out of without it costing you all or part of your trade in device DO NOT trade in a device with ATT or verizon!

Those here who are buying the phone and cancelling in 3 days to avoid activation fees etc aren't doing a trade in because they don't want to be stuck in a 36 month contract that likely requires a higher priced plan to get the monthly phone discount/device credit for a trade in.

If you submit a trade in with most cell phone companies you'll only get a slight discount on your phone contract each month and it's spaced out over 36 months. If you pay off your phone contract early and go to another cell phone company you'll lose the rest of the bill credits from your device trade in.

I'd personally recommend that you find a third party place to sell your old devices and use that money to help pay off your new phone. I don't know of any reputable places, but others here likely do.

This is my first year hopefully getting this walmart gift card deal, so I'm personally hoping to bring my 2 ATT phone lines to verizon through Walmart.com to get the walmart gift cards.

Different to most others here I'm also planning on staying at verizon for 3-4 months so that I have phone contracts that are 90 days old so I can hopefully then get T-Mobile to pay off the rest of my phone contracts with their T-Mobile Keep and Switch deal that they've been running for years (last I looked they'll pay off up to $800/phone and up to 4 phones/account).

With T-mobile keep and switch you might have to first pay your current contract off before T-Mobile will reimburse you,
BUT if you have a Verizon contract once you hit 90-91 days of having a Verizon phone contract you can take screenshots of your account, phone contract, remaining balance for your phone and submit it to T-Mobile keep and switch to get a rebate (without changing your phone service to T-Mobile yet).
Around 15 days later T-Mobile will email a digital prepaid card up to $800/phone that you can use to pay off your verizon phone contract(s) and then finish going over to T-Mobile…

At least the iPhone 16 isn't eligible yet for T-Mobile Keep and Switch, but I noticed last year that slightly after the holidays the iPhone 15s were eligible. So around February/march the iphone 16 might be eligible for T-Mobile keep and switch if you've had it for over 90 days on a contract.

How much will you be paying monthly for the service with ATT (for next 36 months)?
Hello! So sorry for my delay; my SD notifications were accidentally turned off.
We have some solid discounts for the plan, so it's $30 / line after all taxes & fees for the cheapest unlimited plan. There's not much cheaper for 5G unlimited in our area and we have solid coverage, so it works out well.
EDIT: sorry, I think I misunderstood this! For the phone's monthly payment:
MSRP phone payments: $33.30 / month (which is $1200 / 36 months)
After the trade-in monthly bill credits ($830 / 36 = $23.06) = $10.28 / month
So $10.28 / month is the cost to AT&T = $370 to AT&T over 3 years. So, the Walmart gift card is $300. So you pay AT&T $370 over 3 years, but you get a $300 Walmart gift card in the first month. Thus net it is $70 (I used $1200, instead of $1199 in my post), but you're right: you still need to increase your AT&T bill by $10.28 / month.

Is the $830 monthly bill credits or one time credit applied to your account ?
Ah, gosh, yes, I should've clarified that. It is definitely monthly credits, so $830 / 36 = -$23 / month credit.
