iPhones are unlocked automatically 60 days after activation (with IMEI and a paid plan). You don't even need to open the box. Simply check sickw.com on day 60 or 61 and the status should show unlocked. You can then setup the phone anywhere, without or with a SIM from different service provider.

Bought this from previous deal.

Used edge with ms shopping which was 15% back last time. Bought 2 and showing $30 back pending on both transactions. It's 12% now and seems the best deal available.

I had chase offers on both freedom unlimited and CSR for 25% back capped at $15. Those both qualified so $45 cb plus standard cb from credit cards combined. I see the chase offers are back on both of those cards for me now; almost tempted to try and buy 2 more.

Received both phones, they will come with SIM card and instructions taped to back of iPhone box. Follow instructions which include going to straight talk activation website and inserting the sim. The silver, or whichever plan you choose, is tied to the sim and you will see a message to that effect when completing activation on the website. Once activated, text UNLOCK to 611611 twice and you will receive a response that lists the unlock date. You only have to pay 1 month of service and the device will unlock 60 days post activation.

This is interesting... I did screw up (didn't read your comment until now) by activating on Total by Verizon, but when I called total support asking for an activation PIN (which, as you correctly observe, is not present for Straight Talk), they took my order number from the e-mail receipt and activated my plan with the original paid amount, no repayment. I texted unlock to 611611 and it responded that the phone will auto-unlock two months from now. Can anyone else confirm a similar situation?
it happened to me 2 days back and still following up with their horrible customer care, they asked me to wait for 48 hours again

i mean ya... what can ST even do.. they're not the courier. i think contacting UPS probably the best way to get results. fingers crossed UPS doesn't lose mine... i rly don't wanna spend hours talking UPS
I don't understand your logic when issues like this arise. A customer made an agreement with Straight Talk; not UPS. Straight Talk is the sender, they purchased the shipping label, and entered an agreement with UPS. It's not the customer's responsibility to deal with the courier since typically, they won't give anyone the time of day, except the entity that purchased the shipping label. In this case, it's Straight Talk. What can Straight Talk do, you ask? They can contact UPS on behalf of their customer. If UPS lost 1000 Straight Talk phones and Straight Talk said it wasn't their problem. Those 1000 customers would just do charge backs and it would definitely be a Straight Talk problem.

REMINDER! DONT BE AN IDIOT LIKE ME!

If you get the phone, even though the packaging says Total by Verizon, they're both own by Verizon, and the first website the little booklet tells you to go to register your phone is Total, don't do it. Register on Straight Talk or else you'll have to pay for another month again or deal with their horrible customer service to get your phone back on straight talk and activate the month you paid for.
I just went directly to Straighttalk.com and in the upper right is a button that says ACTIVATE

https://www.straighttalk.com/activation

Once I got it activated I made a phone call, sent a test text then sent a text to 611611 with the word UNLOCK. Rec'd the message back saying my phone would be unlocked on 1-25-25

People buy phones that the don't desperately need. Most people don't use 9 year old iphone 6s and upgrade so regularly that they don't need to do a MUST BUY PHONE TODAY approach. Where were you with all those iPhone 6s tradein deals were around? People can simply wait for the iphone se 2025 deal as the specs get big bump and the support will be way longer. Why buy launch msrp on any phone? I am not sure if using an apple iphone 6s is even usuable in 2024. Why are you using a 9 year old iPhone 6s with an atrocious battery, stopped receiving updates (still on ios 15 and stopped receiving security updates) when there were a billion iphone deals the last decade? This isn't a terrible 13 iphone deal but there is an iphone SE 2025 around the corner and we all know that every SE phone that came out soon came out with great deals. The actual better bang for the buck iphone 13 deal is the Visible FREE iPhone 13 and Visible+ annual plan for $395 (-$60 bonus... so like $335) which was so hot that they were available for a week until they sold out like yesterday. FREE iphone is good and better than a $200 purchase iphone. If someone's current daily driver is completely unusable and needs specifically an iphone 13, the best bet was visible annual deal with free iphone 13 that was available for like a week. I am looking at what a person pays with phone and plan over the year to really find the best deal. There is so much competition out there that is even better than a 2021 entry line iphone 13 too so do not lock yourself into any one brand especially for 9 years with an iphone 6s . Don't buy an iphone 13 and use it for 9 more years.
Wow!!! Thank your for the best ever example of dumb logic mentioning a phone that isn't released, a phone deal that is over budget, and sold out, questioning an individual's current phone situation, and past actions. You must really live in both the past and future, but not the present. I can't fix (your) stupid; I'd be stupid to even try.

Unfortunately, many of their CS reps are completely clueless and it's just the luck of the draw when you call. If you get one that has no idea what they're doing, hang up and call back immediately and talk to someone else. It's not uncommon to call a couple of times getting a dumb rep, but then get one who knows what's up the next time. Don't wait 48 hours for a problem like that, as that rep has no clue … that may help for situations like a hung activation, but not for one where the plan won't attach. Luckily, they don't seem to track previous calls with notes in the system. Have your order number handy, as one who knows what they're doing should be able to look it up, see that you ordered a plan and attach it on their end, as the other user mentioned. If you get a few clueless reps in a row, take a break and try back in like 10 hours or so to hopefully catch a different shift so you don't keep getting the same ones.

Of course, make sure to try the ST online activation first though (as a new phone purchased from ST). It's definitely easier if you can get it going on your own and it may sometimes work even if you think you might have messed something up at a sister site.

Searched the thread and was not able to find a definitive answer.

Does anyone have personal experience with porting their new Straight Talk number to another service before 30 days of service ends, and whether it has any effect on 60 day automatic unlock?

Would like to port the number to another carrier before service is cut off to take advantage of separate port in required offer.

It's not the "recommended" way to proceed, as there is always the potential for complications. But there have been quite a few reports from people in past threads who ported their number out and still got the unlock without a problem.

you make a good point. if I sold something on ebay.. and it got lost, I would be the one contacting the courier.

that said, if straight talk told this person that they're not going to help and have to take it up with the courier.. what is that customers options. ig legal action, but who is actually going to do that. i guess threaten with legal action and hope that gets results. so in the context I replied to, the customer does what? now this is all under the assumption that it wasn't stolen, or the customer isn't trying to commit fraud, ofc. i've never actually done a chargeback so it's not something I usually think of.. I guess that is the best route for that person.

Really hope nothing goes wrong with my order. will probably be the last iphone I ever buy unless they get rid of that trash island and put back in a phys sim slot (US version)

Yeah, a CC chargeback or PayPal dispute would be the way to go if ST wont take accountability and do something to replace or refund a lost package. They're responsible for getting a phone to you and it's on them if something happens to it before it's even delivered. Dealing with UPS is their problem if it's lost in transit.

Obviously a chargeback should usually be a last option if you can't get them to help though, as you may end up blacklisted from future deals in case you ever want to try again.

A situation like this UPS won't deal with the receiver. You're not their customer, Straight talk is their customer. Every situation like the one op is in has to be taken care of by straight talk. If they refuse to help the only option is to chargeback the card

https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com

All the TFW affiliate carriers currently activate on the Verizon network now, so the following is the relevant section …

"For cellphones Activated with new service on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, at least sixty (60) days must have elapsed since the cellphone was activated. For any cellphones, notification of the phone's unlock eligibility will be sent via SMS along with a link to the website where the unlock process can be accessed."
