Is this a good deal?
I recently got https://slickdeals.net/f/17893026-lenovo-legion-pro-5i-laptops-16-qhd-240hz-i7-14700hx-rtx-4070-16gb-ddr5-512gb-ssd-more-1254-99?attrsrc=Thread%3AExpired%3ATrue&src=SiteSearchV2Algo
With 16" QHD+ 240Hz, i7-14700HX, RTX 4060 32 GB ram and 1 TB for 1300 after tax.
This deal is tempting but hesitant on the build quality and the lower spec of screen...

I have one and love it. Seems well built enough for me, and while it does thermal throttle, I'm not surprised at all. The omen software is decent and let's you undervolt, change fan curves, etc. natively which is really nice.

Machine performs well, no complaints and the screen at 300 nits isn't amazing but it's good enough for my uses. Is a THICC laptop though, quite heavy.

Only gripe: does not charge via USB c. Only through the hp barrel jack.

Please remove the twisted marketed ploy from the title. You can only get this deal in the store. That is not a good thing. It is a ploy. Please remove "w/ Free In-Store Pickup" from the title.

It looks to me like the main difference is screen resolution/quality and 32GB vs 16GB RAM. Same CPU/GPU.

You can upgrade the RAM on the Lenovo, but you'll have to live with the dimmer but OK (300 vs 500 nits) FHD screen on the HP Omen if you switch.

If you already have a QHD/4K external monitor to use then I could see the HP being a better deal. If the laptop screen brightness and resolution are important to you then stick with the Lenovo.

4060 vs 4070....
Am I missing something?

Maybe one of the deals got edited to show a better configuration, but I'm seeing a 4070 GPU listed in both the microcenter HP Omen deal and the Lenovo Legion Pro deal from Lenovo.

a 4060 vs a 4070 would definitely account for a $250-$350 difference.

If you look at the quote that you replied to it clearly states 4060 in black bold letters. Now at Microcenter there is a Legion vs Omen for a $100 difference that and the other reasons you stated that has both 4070s, but intel vs ryzen, ram speeds, screen quality etc.

We picked this one up two nights ago. Great performance, a little loud during gaming when fans are in performance mode. The screen unfortunately has a lot of light bleed, enough for us to consider returning it.

there seems to be some misinformation. the microcenter model is the older hp omen model without thunderbolt. This is in the designation of 16- instead of 16T-. Someone correct me if I'm wrong if what you received has thunderbolt.
