A benefit on this modem for Xfinity is it is one of the cheaper ones that will be able to get NextGen/midsplit speeds (in areas this is rolled out), which effectively means more upload. Here is a list of all the current ones: https://assets.xfinity.com/assets...evices.pdf
I got the lower Hitron CODA (not CODA56) model earlier this year and my plan went from 200/5 to 300/100 with no price change. I just tested and I'm getting 329/112 on my phone over wifi AC.
The difference on the lower model is it only supports up to 1000 down/350 up on the internet connection and it only has a Gigabit ethernet port. (CODA56 2500 down/700 up and 2.5Gb ethernet port).
So if you are not planning to get, or don't have available in your area, plans higher than 1 Gigabit, then there's no point in getting the CODA56 over the CODA.
However, the regular CODA model seems to be sold out/not listed on Amazon right now, except for the Renewed listing at $89. (I got my CODA for $80 new earlier this year). https://www.amazon.com/Hitron-Cer...0CVCDL3HV/
Seems to avoid PUMA chipset, so I declare this a good deal. I'd still rather buy a used cable modem and save even more $$'s but that's just me! https://approvedmodemlist.com/int...t-defects/
Is Puma 6 the only one to avoid, or all Puma chips? Would be nice to save $100 over the Arris S34, but not if I have to chase connection issues for the next 10 years.
My provider (spectrum) provides the cable modem free. I pay for 400 down / 20 up package. Their modem provides those speeds. What is the advantage to buy this Hitron model?
do you need to have 2GB speed to get 200mbps upload?
I currently have 1GB speed with motorola S33 and getting only 25mbps.
will this modem increase the upload speed?
check your plan speed,
then use computer wire connect to the modem to check the speed
check your router speed,
i have experience that the router limited my speed..........
I have been watching this for months. It has been this price fairly regularly. It might have had a chance to hit $99 for black friday but not if everyone is buying it at the regular sale price.

I know. Unfortunately when a deal goes frontpage the Slickdeals staff will rewrite the post and the original information I added is hidden:
It's not the lowest price ever ($109.99) but it's cheaper than the normal $139.99. You can order it and wait if it gets any cheaper over the next few weeks and then rebuy and return.

Does this support high split on Spectrum? If not, don't waste your money and stick to the free Spectrum modem.
Spectrum is rolling out new frequencies to support symmetric download/upload on cable and iirc only their modems support the correct frequencies to take advantage (unless something has changed in the last few months)
Edit looking at data sheet it says 5-85Mhz so I think this works with Xfinity mid split but not Spectrum high split (up to 204Mhz)

In theory you might see a more reliable connection if you're having issues. However, see my comment about high split and this modem missing upload frequencies

Xfinity is trialing symmetrical speeds in some test markets, too. But I think this requires DOCSIS 4.0 which this modem doesn't support.
Everything is so market/region dependent. In my neighborhood Comcast has just recently started to upgrade their infrastructure and I hope they will enable midsplit in the near future. I will then replace my 8 year old Netgear CM500 modem to get the higher upload speed which is what I am mainly interested in.
They recently installed Google Fiber in our area but their lowest tier is 1G for $70 and I don't think they will change that. Otherwise I would immediately jump on a 500/500 plan for $35 or $40.
I don't need 1G for double the price if I only pay $30 for 300/25 or potentially 300/100 in the future. Totally sufficient for us working from home, gaming and running a few streams.
Very solid modem, I bought it for this price back in August when I moved to an Xfinity location. Getting my subscribed 300/100 with no issues, and one of the major benefits of the Coda and Coda56 is that they are certified for mid split service on Xfinity.
My area does support 2000/200 but my current service is 1000/20 with Motorola s33. Will this modem increase the upload without changing to higher tier service? Thanks
Yes you will get the faster upload without needing to change to a higher tier service if you upgrade to the CODA56. I switched my modem on my 1000/30 service and now I get over 100 up.
I'm actually planning on downgrading my service when my current promo expires because I only got it for the slightly faster upload speed. Even the 150 Mbps plan has 100+ upload in my area.

Exactly. That's why I have never upgraded and stayed on the 300Mbps plan because I am more interested in higher upload speed. I pay $25 (or $30 with credit card payment) for the plan which is the lowest I have probably paid during my last 8 or so years with Comcast.

From Spectrum sub on Reddit it sounds like they're farther along and building out high split vs testing but it's been going slow subject to contractor availability, permits, equipment upgrades
