Sorry for asking this dumb question but what do great about evolving skies? I mean it no different than the original Pokemon card from 1998 that randomly had halographic Charizard, Blastoise or something
Not dumb at all! I recently got back into Pokemon after the 151 set released, since it was so nostalgic. Figuring out all of the sets since Base Set 2 released (when I stopped playing/collecting as a kid) and now...has been nuts lol.

Evolving Skies has the coveted "Moonbreon" which is an INSANELY expensive piece of cardboard. It has some other hits, but that card ungraded goes for $900+, and a graded 10 can go for 2x that.
The packs alone sell for $15-20 each, so getting 2-3 in a tin that only costs $15 is a steal

Anyway, I recently bought a TTar tin at Target and it had 2x ES packs in it, so the hope is alive there!

Is this a good deal if my kids want to start playing the game? Or is it best to go with a starter set?
The best deal is to download Pokemoon TCG Live for free. The game gives you some nice decks to play. You can see if they are any good at the game and all sorts of good stuff. The code card out of the regular packs give you one pack to open online. You can get 1000 code cards off of ebay for $20. You also have every card avaliable to buy with the in game curency you can earn for free.

If you're wanting to get cards to play I would look to get the Obsidian Flames/Paldea Evolved Elite Trainer Boxes from GameStop if they still have them available. Includes a lot of the things you'll need to play. They're also currently $25

The set is discontinued and can only be found in certain packages. It has some pretty rare and nice cards from the set. The big pull people try to get is the moonbreon.

Apparently the shrink wrapped variation of this tin does seem to have evolving skies and that's what it looks like it is. At $3 a pack I'm definitely going to take my chances and set an alarm for this deal, even if we all get screwed and there aren't any evolving skies.
This is not the case this late in 2024. I've seen brilliant stars and lost origin in those versions of the tin. If it's the one with the plastic just around the middle, those have good odds for the Evo Skies.

$3 per pack is a fine sale price that's commonly had every few weeks at various retailers, but mega lukewarm for a BF deal.

Rippers would be better served getting the $20 ETB's that target will have (Brilliant Stars, Astral Radiance).

Yes, the Umbreon VMAX Alternate art can be found in the Evolving Skies packs, which has a current market value of nearly $1000, ungraded,
raw straight from the pack. Really at absolute bare minimum you're paying $18 (not including shipping) per pack for a single individual pack of Evolving Skies because of the opportunity to pull that card. If there's any chance you can get 3 from this tin (like the image is showing on the Walmart website) for less than the price of one it's really an insanely great deal.

I really thought the middle wrapped tins had the green code card packs repackaged into them. So even if you have good odds for an ES pack chances of pulling anything worthwhile are low. I could be wrong though. Just hope everyone who actually cares to get these gets at least one at this price and we can all happily collect em all together.

I just purchased shrink wrapped empolean tins at target and can report they have 2 evolving skies, 2 fusion strike, and 1 chilling reign.

For those who are talking about getting these for kids. If your kids just want cards the price per pack here is very good. If your kids want the shiny full art cards seeking out evolving skies is not the way to go imop. Full art cards are extremely rare when compared to crown zenith. If you have kids who are just getting into I recommend crown zenith. In my experience the pull rates are way better. Evolving skies has some highly sought after highly rare cards. But you need to be prepared to get mainly regular cards.

This whole thing looks like a sinister attempt for Walmart to drive people to their Walmart+ member$hip for Early Access. If you already have Walmart+ or plan to get it, then this is good. Once these go on sale at 12noon they will be gone in about 45 seconds, the entire inventory will be wiped out. I'm going to set an alert for 5pm but I would be shocked if there is anything left by 12:05pm, much less 5pm, LOL.

Start with crown zenith. You'll have a lot of fun and it has really cool chase cards.

I know nothing about Pokémon. My son has got a bunch of packs, knows a little, but is just collecting cards right now. He wants to find a charmander card. Is there a specific pack, box set, etc that would give him the best chance to find one without going to eBay and finding one to buy? I bought halloweeen themed set Costco had and planned on giving him that set but no idea if there's a chance to find one in that set or not. Any ideas on cheapest packs or sets for the best chance to find one? I don't know if there's multiple types or just one. Thank you

Evolving skies had a lot of "chase cards" the value has sky rocketed on a few. In my opinion its partially because someone who has access to the print factory stole a bunch of the biggest hits and then stupidly tried to sell them to a card shop in Texas. That most likely severely decreased the availability of the biggest cards....hard to find cards increase in prices and naturally packs sky rocket too because you have a chance of pulling a super expensive card..... Pokemon has been a gambling addiction for some😄

Well it would definitely be worth purchasing a month of Walmart+ if you think the inventory will be wiped. Which it may well be. One month of Walmart plus is like 15 bucks?
