I have a Pixel 6 to trade in that I bought from T-Mobile 3 years ago, so the website already has the IMEI. I went all the way through the checkout process, everything looked good. But then I carefully read the Trade In Terms document. It said the Trade In expires on 11/23/2024 (tomorrow). If you then click on the link in that document that takes you to https://www.t-mobile.com/commerce...d-t-c.html , it says "If you fail to return your Device by the trade-in expiration date, you may be required to pay back any value or credit advanced to you." It also says "...if you sell your Device online or over the phone, we will honor the Offer Price if: (1) your Device is received by us by the Offer Price trade-in expiration date."
That's impossible, how can I mail it and have them receive it the next day? They should have an expiration date at least a week or two away, so that I can first receive and activate the new Pixel 9, copy stuff over (if needed), delete all my personal info from the Pixel 6 ("You will remove all Device data and personal information, passwords, security software, or user locks."), then ship it to them and leave time for shipping carrier to get it to them.
So I reluctantly backed out at the final step.
This deal worked on my Simple Choice plan -- via T-App, traded in S21FE, total was the $35 DCC + state tax.
You'll actually be fine with the trade in. Just placed my order and this is verbatim from my confirmation email from T-Mobile:

What's next?
Once that cool new device is in your hands, get started on these important next steps.
Trade in your old device
Once your new Pixel 9 Pro ships, you'll have 30 days to send back your current Google GVU6C Pixel 7 5G 128GB White - T-Mobile in good condition to retain your promotional value of $800.00.

Ordered Pixel 9 Pro XL for $297 ($8.33x24 + tax and activation) with a Pixel 8.
Thanks

Same. Great deal, under $300 including tax and fees after trading in my pixel 7 pro and upgrading. Since I have a crazy cheap magenta plan and most deals don't apply, this is probably about the as good as it's going to get for a $1200 retail phone. Wasn't expecting to upgrade anytime soon, but can't pass this up.

Which ones aren't eligible? Old 55 plan works.

I am on select choice, didn't work for my s21 fe, are you seeing the promotion detail under the Promotion category when checking out? My shows dcc id240648 , doesn't mention the promotional value anywhere, thanks
Yes, I'm seeing the $800 value when upgrading my S21 FE too. It's giving me $75 for the phone and then the remaining $725 as a bonus value with promotion.

From the OP (read the second sentence):

New lines receive up to $800 back via one-time trade in credit and 24 monthly bill credits. Upgrades receive up to $800 back via 24 monthly bill credits.

Like I said above, I had no problem getting the $800 credit trading in a pixel 7 pro on a magenta plan. No new line required.

I have a Samsung S20 FE. It's 4 years old but still performs great. Should I take this offer for a Pixel 9?

T-mobile is waiving the $35 DCC fee if you upgrade through the T-Life app according to reddit [reddit.com].

Costco is still the best route for waived DCC fee and 75 Costco shop card. But if you want to order online, either use the T-Life app or order through the website and tell support that the app didn't work for you to get a $35 credit on your next bill.

So for me the phone is technically free with trade in and port, BUT, I don't want what is essentially a 24 month contract. If you leave, you lose the remaining credits (making the phone NOT free any longer)

In addition, why would I pay $50 a month plus tax (closer to $60 a month), when many MVNOs charge $25 with all taxes and fees included?

Can someone explain to me what makes this slick? I dont want to pay $60 a month for 1 line, even if the phone is free.

What makes this slick is a nearly free or very cheap upgrade for people that already have amazing deals on older T-mo plans, especially since those plans often are excluded from these kinds of deals.

Yes, you should always factor in the plan cost, and a cheap phone where you dramatically overpay on monthly service is not a good deal. If you want to do that, you probably want a deal at Verizon Smilie

Is it just me,or does paying retail plus tax on a phone and then getting that money back piecemeal every month seem not so good.

If that's what this deal was, then yes...that would suck. Luckily that's not at all what's happening here.

Ok, it looks like I can finally get rid of my S21 (I currently have a S24 Ultra) on my Simple Choice plan. Will use the P9 as a gift or backup. Any catch here? For some reason I have a gut feeling I'm going to have trouble with this trade in, like the SC plan doesn't qualify
