I have a Pixel 6 to trade in that I bought from T-Mobile 3 years ago, so the website already has the IMEI. I went all the way through the checkout process, everything looked good. But then I carefully read the Trade In Terms document. It said the Trade In expires on 11/23/2024 (tomorrow). If you then click on the link in that document that takes you to https://www.t-mobile.com/commerce...d-t-c.html , it says "If you fail to return your Device by the trade-in expiration date, you may be required to pay back any value or credit advanced to you." It also says "...if you sell your Device online or over the phone, we will honor the Offer Price if: (1) your Device is received by us by the Offer Price trade-in expiration date."
That's impossible, how can I mail it and have them receive it the next day? They should have an expiration date at least a week or two away, so that I can first receive and activate the new Pixel 9, copy stuff over (if needed), delete all my personal info from the Pixel 6 ("You will remove all Device data and personal information, passwords, security software, or user locks."), then ship it to them and leave time for shipping carrier to get it to them.
So I reluctantly backed out at the final step.
This deal worked on my Simple Choice plan -- via T-App, traded in S21FE, total was the $35 DCC + state tax.
You'll actually be fine with the trade in. Just placed my order and this is verbatim from my confirmation email from T-Mobile:

What's next?
Once that cool new device is in your hands, get started on these important next steps.
Trade in your old device
Once your new Pixel 9 Pro ships, you'll have 30 days to send back your current Google GVU6C Pixel 7 5G 128GB White - T-Mobile in good condition to retain your promotional value of $800.00.

Question for all you who understand legalese.

I'm on a legacy plan, but seems I'm still eligible for the promo. I'm always worried about Tmobile forcing me off my plan or significantly increasing my rates. What are the implications if I buy this and now have a statement credit tied to my bill?

Can they increase my rates during the 2 yrs of bill credits but still expect me to pay off the device if I want to cancel? It seems like the two would almost be intertwined, and a rate increase would also be the same as making a significant change in terms to this installment plan.

Think about what you're saying. Option 1: spend $200ish now (buying a phone to trade for $100-$150 + tax and fees) and get a Pixel 9 and also still have your Pixel 4a.Option 2: spend $500ish now ($400 + tax and fees) and get a Pixel 9...and get to feel like you got some value for your 4a?It makes no mathematical sense to trade your 4a. Literally the only thing that does is make you feel like you got some value out of trading it. But as outlined above...you actually got negative $300 in value out of trading it compared to trading a different $100 phone for $800. You're far better off doing option 1...even if the next step is to throw your 4a in the trash. If your 4a is in decent condition, you should be able to sell it in any number of places for about $100, and now it only cost you about $100 net to upgrade, which an insanely good deal.
Make sense, Option 1 is cheaper and I keep my 4a5g. After some consideration, I've decided to just pass on this deal all together since I'd just be spending money on a phone I wouldnt end up using as a primary phone. But thank you for this write up, really help me put things into preceptive to not chase trade in values.

I'm shocked this just worked on my Unlimited on Us (Sprint) plan!

Purchased a great condition Pixel 7 for $180 a few months back. And now upgraded to a 9 by just paying $66 in taxes.

Anyone know if the trade in has to be mailed or can it be taken to store?

How does trade in at Costco work? Will they take my old phone at the same time?
Or will I get new ones and then ship the old ones later?
Thanks.

I can confirm $35 DCC is waived going through T-Life app. Finally a great deal for Magenta plan, took screenshots for every screen.

Costco Gave me the $100 deal just now😁
Did you do it through the kiosk at a store or on the phone? My local Costco couldn't even access the offer.

When will this deal end?
What are the chances of T-Mobile having same kind of deal for Samsung phones for BF or later this year?
I've been using Samsung phones for many many years - would rather prefer Samsung, but my old one is getting too old.

I saw nothing that stated I have to change my plan, 55+ essentials. I've gotten deals like this in the past and have never had an issue on my older plans. If anyone is not eligible it should be caught before shipment imo.

These are crystal ball questions. Nobody knows. As always the deal is valid until it isn't, gotta strike when it's hot. Guess you could buy it then trade that phone for a samsung? Or I guess at worst you can just return it (within the return window) and wait for BF

I'm in the kiosk at Costco. It took them some time to find the deal. It hasn't been added to their main document yet.

To address the question about trade-in offer seemingly expiring on 11/23. The final dated/signed Trade In Agreement available for download after placing the order has the "Expires On" date 12/22/2024, which is a month from now. Nothing to worry about.
