I have a Pixel 6 to trade in that I bought from T-Mobile 3 years ago, so the website already has the IMEI. I went all the way through the checkout process, everything looked good. But then I carefully read the Trade In Terms document. It said the Trade In expires on 11/23/2024 (tomorrow). If you then click on the link in that document that takes you to https://www.t-mobile.com/commerce...d-t-c.html , it says "If you fail to return your Device by the trade-in expiration date, you may be required to pay back any value or credit advanced to you." It also says "...if you sell your Device online or over the phone, we will honor the Offer Price if: (1) your Device is received by us by the Offer Price trade-in expiration date."
That's impossible, how can I mail it and have them receive it the next day? They should have an expiration date at least a week or two away, so that I can first receive and activate the new Pixel 9, copy stuff over (if needed), delete all my personal info from the Pixel 6 ("You will remove all Device data and personal information, passwords, security software, or user locks."), then ship it to them and leave time for shipping carrier to get it to them.
So I reluctantly backed out at the final step.
This deal worked on my Simple Choice plan -- via T-App, traded in S21FE, total was the $35 DCC + state tax.
You'll actually be fine with the trade in. Just placed my order and this is verbatim from my confirmation email from T-Mobile:

What's next?
Once that cool new device is in your hands, get started on these important next steps.
Trade in your old device
Once your new Pixel 9 Pro ships, you'll have 30 days to send back your current Google GVU6C Pixel 7 5G 128GB White - T-Mobile in good condition to retain your promotional value of $800.00.

PSA - Purchased the Pixel 9 at Costco on 11/21 with a Samsung S10e trade in after the Costco rep confirmed I qualified for that promo (I'm on the ONE plan) - and today I got shipping and promotion enrollment confirmation - but it's the wrong promo Smartphone Trade ID240561 - P896 with $20 monthly credits (totaling $500 off) vs the expected Smartphone Trade ID240577 - P943 at $33 monthly credit (totaling $800 off).
This means this is a true web online offer only, and Costco purchases do not meet the criteria.
I'll need to reach out to them as I got word from that rep that I was good to go...

Good to know, thanks for the info. My Costco said Simple Choice wasn't eligible and to just stick with TMo online or the app.

Since it looks like it might be online only, is there anyway to do online but take tradein to store and have them accept it?? I hate the chance of mailing trade... So many things can go wrong.
Any way to get deal online and have activation waived.... Like contact tmobile Twitter before.... Or after?

Yes that's allowed and people have done in the past. They can tell right away at the store whether your phone condition is not qualified, so much safer than mailing it in to who knows who?

I didn't take note of it. The rep saw the offer in his app and selected that to upgrade.

Here is what worked for me, thanks for the various comments found on Slickdeals.
  1. Call Costco T-Mobile 833-428-1765
  2. Mention Deal ID P943
  3. Mention Smartphone Trade ID240577
  4. Mention having issues doing it online and was trying to see if I can do it over the phone
  5. Had to go through a few reps. Got declined saying it is online only until a rep was able to do it.
  6. Declined all insurance/product offerings.
  7. Confirmed $800 off (ONE plan, S20 FE)
  8. Confirmed $35 activation fee waived
  9. Confirmed $100 Costco Shop card instructions
  10. Paid Sales Tax based on full price $999.99

So the process is to do the deal online, and then take it to tmob store? And if for some reason tmob store rejects it, the online order can be canceled?

Pretty confident that your plan wasn't changed by phone rep? Have you gotten any proof sent to you showing this to ya... 800 is nice, but retaining my one plan is way more important to me..

After picking your phone, there is trade in option you need to select, you probably didn't miss that but in case you did. Worth calling customer service to figure out what's wrong because simple choice is a qualified plan. I did it and I am on simple choice.

I think you can always cancel and return newly bought or traded in phone within certain time period. So I guess it's a yes.
