I'm on simple choice and I qualified. Already traded in two phones. One for a 9 pro xl and one for a regular 9. If you go to the product page and try from there it's gonna keep trying to add a line for the promo. You have to go to the number's profile and select upgrade from there.

No! They are just giving away phones for free!
I cant believe that a lot of people (here and reddit) are complaining the tmobile is forcing you to get bill credits and not straight up discount and an unlocked phone.

The whole purpose of this "deal" is to get people to either sign up for tmobile or get them to stick around for longer. Do you really think they are making a profit out of your 5 year old beat up S9 by offering you $800 for it?

From what I understand, once the store accepts it, marks it as acceptable, and gives you a receipt it's a done deal. Last time they even showed me that the fair market value was credited to my account.

Now, if you just drop it off and have them ship it for you, that's a different story and not recommended.
I read that wearhouse does final inspection somewhere. anyways, the receipt says - deferred trade in submitted with offer value of zero dollars and no discount. I verified with tmo support that its fine and promotion is applied properly.

Seriously. I'm trading in an s20 fe. No way I can get anything close in value for it than this. Upgrading my mom's S10 lite with it. I pay 25$/line on 9 unlimited lines and an not going anywhere. Who cares about bill credits?

I think the agitation with the new policy is not that you can't leave Tmobile. The problem is that it used to be it's okay to payoff the phone and not lose the bill credit as long as you keep the line as a customer. You are not going anywhere and still is a customer, but if you don't like this phone for some reasons, you can't trade or swap it for something else for 2 years.

I haven't read through all the comments, but because of the title of this post "Pixel 9 XL" I got a little confused about the options. Title should read Pixel 9 Pro XL.
Just in case anyone else is confused, the options in the lineup are:
Pixel 9
Pixel 9 Pro (difference between 9 and 9 Pro here [reddit.com])
Pixel 9 Pro XL (the Pro but with larger screen)

With an $800 trade in value cost for me was:
Pixel 9 --- Free
Pixel 9 Pro --- $8.33
Pixel 9 Pro XL --- $8.33

For what it's worth the BIGGEST difference is the Pixel 9 PRO XL default storage amount is 256GB.

The other two the "cheap" price is 128GB, which is unacceptable this day and age.

If you buy-up the storage to 256GB, it costs $100. So Pixel 9 Pro XL with bigger battery and bigger screen and 256GB storage for $200 is a steal.

The Pixel 9 Pro XL just got delivered. This phone is weighty! Granted it's also on the larger side. I'm currently using the iPhone 15pro and Pixel 8. The size is just taller and a tad wider than the iPhone. Debating on offloading the Pixel 8 to lower my cost.
This is such a great deal! I'm on the old Simple Choice plan, last time I had any phone deal was from 2022, getting that free Moto Edge 5g, which is about to be paid off. I ordered online from the pc, no connection charge, just tax of $88.xx.

Did anyone see the full credit on their Equipment Installment Plans & Leases?
I have received 9pro XL and on my plan it says Amount of monthly credit: $29.38 which is around 700$. I opted to trade in iphone12
They have ALWAYS given the fair market value as an instant credit, the amount depends on what phone you trade in. The rest is in Bill credits monthly. In your case you get $100 instant credit and $29.38 credit/month for 24 months.

My dad tried to log in, and saw his pixel 7 phone (not sure which) was $500 something, meh!
I also got $800 for my Pixel 7. Must have been the wrong promo or he is on a plan that doesn't work with the $800 deal.

That makes sense but the reason people want to pay off is to be able to unlock the phone. That means the phone can now be used on another network. Since tmobile is incentivizing (by offering a discount) it makes sense for them to restrict the phone to their network. You can still sell the phone, its just the value of the phone will be lower compared to if it was unlocked.

Received the pixel 9 pro XL, it doesn't seem worth for $199+$88 tax for a 24-month locked phone, struggling on it, I might file return
