Before you buy this - Moen comes with a lifetime warranty. I've had 3 cartridges go out over 10 years, and for all 3, Moen mailed me replacements for free. Call and see if you can get one that way first.

Moen (and delta faucets and Pfister and likely others) typically offer free replacement of these cartridges under warranty. Only catch is that it takes about 7-10 days to get it shipped to your home

I just called Moen and since the facet came with the house and I didn't buy it they requested $8 shipping but free replacement. I accepted, but if I had to call again I'd probably leave that detail out….

how to claim warranty, is receipt required? i dont have it any more
We bought our house in 2011, brand new, but already built so we have nothing. Everything is Moen, but we have really hard water. I have had to replace the sink cartridges, some multiple times each, the shower cartridges too. All they asked was when I bought the Moen products, since I don't have the receipts, they just ask when I bought my house. Then send for free every time.

Dude great deal. I have gone through 3 in ten years with two of these valves in my house. Kids are rough on their shower of course.

Only if you're the original owner. I bought a home full of builder grade Moen and they won't warranty anything.

Weird coincidence. I am changing this right now. Like I'm literally in the bathtub putting the new one in.

Pardon the lack of knowledge, what does this do?
So since you didn't get a direct answer, and I'm literally replacing one today, I'll tell you!

Inside of your faucets are these cartridges. Another name for this might be the valve assembly.

I have a leaky bathroom faucet that I would replace, but my wife absolutely loves. Instead of replacing the faucet, I'm just replacing this cartridge. You turn off the water and then disassemble the handle from above. Pops out, has the valve and o-rings all together. You pop it back in and leak stops. For the one I'm doing, it's costing me ~$10 to replace the cartridge vs ~$100 for a new faucet, plus time and mess. Cartridges replace, generally, fairly easily and are right on top.

As mentioned, most major vendors will supply a new one for free. In my case, I didn't feel like waiting to save ~$10.

you just call them and tell them what you need.

I have claimed warranty twice (2 different houses). They do not ask for receipt. They only ask if you know what cartridge(s) you need. You can even get replacement handles for free by asking for them. If you do not know what model your faucet is or do not know what cartridge you need, they have you take a picture of the faucet and they then compare it to their models so you get the right part(s).
absolutely this.

we have received free replacement parts from Moen and Delta for fixtures we didn't even put in, they came with the properties installed by previous owner

there was an odd single handle delta in this one property we bought, looked really old. had a constant drip. we sent them a picture of it. they knew right away what it was and mailed it out, we received it the following week. looked up the RPA# and if we were to buy it online, the price would have been $88

Not sure why anyone would pay $25 for this let alone $50 when they are free from Moen for lifetime. They will expedite shipping for a fee if you really need it fast.

Pro tip (I'm not a plumber but replaced a few of these):

Apply faucet grease before you install it and it will be as smooth as butter and prevent oxidation build up which is what kills these most of the time.

They have never asked for purchase receipt - just photo of the faucet showing the leak

Kohler should still have free lifetime cartridges. Call them, they will ask q's to get you the right part, and ship it to you free of charge. I never had to mail the old one back to them.
