I struggled for the X10. However, many Macs and Windows don't have the USB 3 2x2 needed. So, saved the money and went with the 9.

I believe it's pre-formatted as an APFS volume and the color is slightly different.

As a Mac user, I'd just get the cheaper one and format it myself. Only takes a couple seconds in Disk Utility.

Do we have any idea of long term storage reliability? Need one to store wedding and vacation videos.
Flash has theoretical cell charge decay over time. You should get multiple types of drives and copies.

The x10 Pro is twice as fast and only $30 more: Limited-time deal: Crucial X10 Pro 2TB Portable SSD – Up to 2100MB/s Read, 2000MB/s Write, lightweight storage for photography, videography, gaming, fast backups, USB 3.2 – External Solid State Drive https://a.co/d/4PL5kVg
sounds good on paper. but in real world almost no systems out there support the connections speed needed for the USB 3 2x2 speeds. lame, I know

Don"t purchase this one if you are care about the encryption. It does have encryption option. Data stored with it is not secure. Contacted with MFC and not helpful.

The newer Mac minis have usb4, that should be good enough, right?

No issues for me with the X10 Pro
I do have USB 3.2 interfaces to get the full speed, but it worked just fine on a USB hub that only has USB 3 speeds.

Also while the USB 3.2 2x2 speed is indeed a rare interface USB 4 is starting to become common and no longer exclusive to Intel.

I have a feeling that the USB 4 ports will be backwards compatible for the extra speed, so I would much rather buy up to get that speed even if I don't need it or use it, because if given the chance its a HUGE difference.

The X9 is actually faster than the X10 using black magic. I'm returning the X10 and saving $40…new Macs don't even use USB 2x2.
