How does this compare to the Tesla wall?
My power company is offering some incentives (in addition to the fed tax credit)

Finally a good deal on this! The questions is will it get cheaper on BF?
Not sure, but prices of lithium ion phosphate are dropping like a rock
BF 2024 prices will seem expensive compared to where power stations will be summer 2025

Wow really. But the tax credit might go away in 2025.

This is, at best, $1500's worth of battery. The rest of (inverter, charger, electronics, etc.) is not worth anywhere near $2500.

What products are you using as a comparison?

I'm talking about building something similar from individual components. A 51.2V 100Ah rack mountable battery can be had for under $1000, we'll call it $1000. This product has an extra 20% capacity, but that's neither here nor there, if you went with rack you'd get 2 of those for ~10.2kWh. A high-quality all-in-one inverter/MPPT charger can be had for $600-1200, depending on if you want split phase. For under $2000 you can easily build your own 5.1kWh solution. There is the portability factor, people build them on strong hand trucks, but ultimately you decide if the premium on a product like this is worth it.

The estimate cost of battery is probably reasonable. The electronics, while not cheap, may not worth $2500. But it is a niche market and they probably will not sell a lot. R&D, labor, facility .. all cost and this overhead adds up to the price. Plus they need a profit margin, too

I agree with most of this. Profit and R&D and stuff is all fine and dandy if you're the seller, on the consumer side being better informed can let one decide if what is provided is worth your money. Closer to $3k this would be a good deal for the convenience.

Curious how long this would power a normal household without considering heating/cooling?
No central ac and no window unit but everything else the same about 8 to 10 hrs. Have 2 freezers and 1 refrigerator. This includes using microwave and toaster oven

Well BOM cost of iPhone 16 is $429 and Apple sell it for $829 ...
I don't know how many people would be capable and comfortable to put together such system. It is not a backyard DIY project.

It depends from individual to individual, and whether you are comfortable doing this DIY. Tons of resources and videos on Youtube showing how to build this, it really depends on your comfort level and willingness to spend time doing this by yourself.

Why is it starting to get so popular? It seems like a lot of aggravation. Why not just a. Get a 12 000 w generator or a whole house generator like Gen x or something like that?

Whole house generator have a probability of not starting when you need it and need to do annual maintenance ($500) to keep warranty. Also gas generator you need to place outside the house and running at night is noisy. It is by need scenario and another reason is that batteries are getting to the point of being close to a gas generator in price and capacity in wattage. Not there yet but very close.

Is a single inverter going to provide enough output to power an entire home? Can the smart panel support that?
You need 2, especially for AC unit. May work if you get a soft start for AC

It is all about convenience. Also, you may not need a permit with all in one device like this.
