Believe it or not, if your requirements are modest, e.g., mostly checking e-mails, do some light video streaming, etc., an 8GB RAM can do the job. We have a laptop here with just 8GB, with an even humbler Ryzen 3 CPU, and while nobody would call it fast, it is plenty usable for the basic day-to-day tasks, which should be the expectations for a $200 machine (ours was $150).

True, but best to get/upgrade to 16GB RAM (memory is cheap), such that there is no *possible* long term suffering. :-)

Luckily this is Windows 11 S mode....

And yes, 8GB of ram is just fine for light computer use (even with "bLoAtEd" Windows). Otherwise millions of PC's from Asus, Lenovo, HP, etc wouldn't be pumped out per year. Laptops that amazing get good reviews.

And Protip....you can uninstall that bloatware Wink

1: Do a clean reinstall of windows.
2: An additional 8GB can be easily added

Can't hookup an external monitor over 1080p with the Dell. My cheap 14" ASUS with i3-1215U can do 4k and 3440x1440 like a reasonable person would expect. Now I am not sure this one will, but you should make sure if it is important. The Dell really surprised me with this limitation as I bought a similar one for a friend. I was lucky that they had a small desk.

After your clean install, uininstall the ASUS bloatware and disable the ASUS servicves. Even setting the bios to not install the ASUS stuff still install the non GUI parts of it that run at startup.
That said, I am happy with my cheap i3-1215U ASUS with crappy screen. Upgraded to 16GB and a larger SSD I had available but I could have lived with 128.

Soldered RAM. No thanks. Had my RAM go bad on my last soldered laptop, and there's nothing you can do to fix it, you have to dump the entire laptop. Soldered RAM is planned obsolescence.
