You need to keep Cricket service for 6 consecutive months, then Cricket will unlock it

For anyone who wants it actually unlocked at some point, it will cost you $100 + $120 + $120, which includes 6 months of cricket service. Two months of unlimited and four months of the $30 5gb plan.

Not bad at all if you need a decent new phone + plan. Cricket is also rock-solid as far as quality of service is concerned.

If you are on Cricket already, you can get it cheaper, because they only require 1 month when adding a new line.
I don't know about the activation, but you can just insert your current sim card and it will work.
You can still unlock the phone, just insert your current sim and keep service for 6 months, after that, you can contact Cricket and they will give you the unlock code, I have done it a few times.

Where do you see this? For the existing customers - "Must activate new line with min. $60/mo. voice plan. First mo. svc charge & tax due at sale."This is it..
It's right in the Terms and Conditions bro.

It requires 2 months of service
"Credit will be lost if service is canceled."

This refers to the promotional credit bringing the phone from $649 to $99

I'm inclined to believe there is only one month of service needed for existing customers. If you uncheck the offer on the landing page for new customers (returning the price to 449.99) and then move over to existing, there is no 'offer' to select or unselect, it's just $99.99. Then under account type it says: Must activate new line with min. $60/mo. voice plan. First mo. svc charge & tax due at sale. Original Price $649.99. Intermittent price reductions taken.

Then by clicking the actual terms of service it says: First month service charge & applicable sales tax due at sale. Activation fee(up to $25/line in-store) & add'l one-time (min. $5 rep-assisted and automated phone system payments) fees &restr's may apply...

If you compare that to the terms of service with the offer clicked for new customers it says: Ends 1/9/2025.Online only. Requires new line. Excludes upgrades and multi-month plans. Pay first two months of $60/mo. plan service ($120 total) at point of sale, plus device taxes. $60 will be applied to first month service charge.

So, the terms of service are different for the two types of sales, new accounts are incentivized with the offer, and existing customers don't even have the option to unselect the offer as it's not on the page. Will they charge existing customers if they cancel before 2 months are over? Who knows, is it worth the risk? That's up to you, but by the terms of service, it doesn't say 2 months are required for existing accounts.

Not really a good deal. Just buy the phone outright on amazon and then use visible at 25/mo.

The credit is from prepaid $60/month, up to 2 months. It's not for the promotional credit of the device.

Just go back to Terms and Conditions for existing customers and read it again. There is absolutly nothing about 2 months of service requirements...

Same and I have about 4 different iPhones and Android phones with them and all were sold on eBay unlocked after 6 months without requiring to be active for all 6 months. The T&C is there to scare you but the reality is that they cannot change their contracted out company's backend software that automatically unlock the phones with a countdown timer.
Can you let me know the last time you did this? I'd probably get this phone for $220 and wait 6 months for unlock but not if I still have to pay the next 4 months too.

From what I've gathered after reading this comment: The phrasing of the deal, as well as the "terms and restrictions" on the phone page is different for "New" and "Existing" customer types. In your case (as well as mine, since I added a 6th line for $60 and plan to cancel it), it doesn't say anything about having to pay for the 2nd month. I think that's just for new customers.
this is great news, thanks.

so we can just immediately cancel the new line? We forfeit the first month payment, is that what it is referring to when it says credit?

What if we just don't activate?
i don't want to get slammed with a $649 charge.
thanks

There seems to be a bit of confusion on what steps to take for current customers adding a new line to get the phone cheaper. Do we activate or not activate before we cancel the new line? Hopefully we get a clear answer soon.

Update on the phone since I received mine today (As an existing customer who added a 6th line to get this deal). I simply removed my sim from my old phone and put it into this phone, and it worked with no issues.
Now I'm waiting to see what others will do regarding cancelling that extra line...

cancelling service before the 1st month ends will cause you to be charged $649 for the phone pursuant to the T&C
Where in the Terms & Conditions does it state that? The phone discount isn't a promotional credit.
