Not bad at all if you need a decent new phone + plan. Cricket is also rock-solid as far as quality of service is concerned.
I don't know about the activation, but you can just insert your current sim card and it will work.
You can still unlock the phone, just insert your current sim and keep service for 6 months, after that, you can contact Cricket and they will give you the unlock code, I have done it a few times.

So is this Math correct to get this unlocked:
Each additional line - $99 + $60 1-month + $150 ($30 after 1st month x 5) = $309
If I were to get a $100 tracfone samsung galaxy a14 for $100 and add $10x6months prepaid it would be $160, vs samsung s24 FE for $309 on cricket for 6 months.
Is the $149 difference worth it when we compare the 2 samsung phones?
Now, about the tracfone A14, they only require 1 month of service, and they will unlock after 2 months, but you can also look at the straight talk A15, they are free with the $45 plan purchase, they are out of stock right now, but they may come in stock sometime.
Now, you can't compare the A14 to the Samsung S24 FE, totally different machines, the A14 is the lowest tier of Samsung( basic camera, basic performance, etc), mostly aimed to older people and small kids, and Samsung S24FE is on the top tier of samsung, if I were to choose one of them, I would definitely choose the S24 FE because, for me, it's worth it.

Now I have an unlocked Google pixel 4a on Tmobile prepaid. If I wanted to swap phones with the new samsung s24 FE phone and give my kid the pixel 4a, will the sim cards work when swapped?
Forgive me if its a dumb question.

Thanks. Can my spouse swap the iphone's cricket wireless sim? We activate the new lines, then swap the sims?
Cricket does not charge taxes and fees on the service
So your total cost to get an unlocked S24FE would be
60x2+30x4=240 + 99= 339+sales taxes on 99
I'm paying 25/month on Visible so the extra costs would be
339-(25x6)= 189+ taxes ~ roughly 197 for this phone unlocked after 6 months.
Samsung was offering 200 off without trade-in for this phone:
With EPP I can get it for total of 473.58 including taxes.
If I play it right and need this phone about $276 can be saved.
Not a bad deal for $197 with some trade-in value in the future.
That is said, there is a trade-off of not having unlimited data and mobile hotspot for 4 months.
For the amount of savings though I would be willing to bear with it.
I had a similar deal with Google Fi before. Was able to get S20 for $300 when the list price was 600..But now Google is not playing this game any more and changed the discount to monthly credits in 24 months...

I just didn't want someone getting this phone and be disappointed that it's not a "flagship" phone.

I got my wife an S22 (I think) FE via a Cricket deal a few years ago and she likes it and is still using it.
So I ended up paying $99 for each phone and $40 for each plan, my total for 2 phones and 2 plans was $296 out the door after taxes.
if you want to unlock it, you can change your plan to the $30 before the 1st month ends.
I'm a long time cricket customer and plan to continue with this as my new phone. I'm not too concerned about unlocking but when I purchased the phone, there was mention of auto-activation in 8 days.
I paid $166.61 for the phone + 1st month ala terms. I see that $60 as a credit on existing account, still at 5x lines since new line not activated.
Can you advise on best plan of attack money-wise from here?
Should new # be activated at all? As mentioned, it seems forced activation will occur after 8 days. If yes, should I activate from phone, or online? Again, I plan to place old sim into this phone, not sure when exactly I should do that? The sooner the better I suppose.
What about cancelling the new line? I won't cancel immediately as thread seems to indicate $60 credit on account will be lost, and may also go against terms of purchase? My billing cycle for 5 line plan ends in about 7 days.
Thank you!

I ported out about a week after activation, so remaining 3 weeks were lost, I have heard some people didn't activate # and the credit stayed into their account, but I have not tried that.
I always activate # online, never used phone to activate #, but I suppose it will be similar.
You can activate new sim with new phone, and then just swap Sim cards afterwards, that's what I do when I get one of these phones.
You can cancel the new line anytime, just remember to cancel before you due date, otherwise they will charge you an extra month on the new line. it won't break terms of purchase, I have done it a lot of times.
