This is blatantly FALSE. Standard controllers have a 90-day warranty (elite are 12-months now, used to also be 90-day). Further, Microsoft does not consider stick drift to be a manufacturer defect and will not replace/repair solely for that reason.
I'm looking for a controller for windows/linux, should I get this or Ultimate 2C which has Hall effect? I think the Ultimate 2.4g also has hall effect, so that is also an option
Without a doubt! but you can send them on warranty and Microsoft will fix it and hopefully wont do that again until like after the year of the warranty expires like it happen to me.
Warranty is 6 months now. My son's that came with his xbox one died just after the 6 month mark.
I have 3 XBox Wireless Controllers and 2 8bitDo Ultimate Bluetooth Controllers.
I tell you the Xbox is significantly more comfortable especially with anything more than 30 min sessions.
I've used both myself, the drift stick issues are a big enough reason for me to avoid these now.
They've even lowered the warranty to 6 months, since most fail after the 6 months warranty. I'm tired of wasting extra time and gas to swap/repair on this generations cheaper products.
Can't be as bad as the Switch's. My wired Xbox360 controller still functions fine, and gets used routinely on my PC. It is almost 20 years old! And it's finally failing - what failed? The strain relief rubber around the cord has detirotate. Holy cow that thing is built like a tank.
But it's time for a new one. Can these new xb1 controllers be run in wired mode? Those small USB connectors do not look strong, not 20 years strong. Intended use is 100% PC games, so I don't like dealing with batteries and charging, ect. The thing can go months unused, and then get used almost 24/7 until a game is beat.
i found that it depends on the type of games you play. i dont play competive FPS, just rocket league, the occasional 3rd person style game, and some puzzle games, and my xbox controller also last a decade. i have 5 of these, but just because i love them so much i use one for the game room, pc, and living room
they're all stick drift edition now. you'll be lucky to get 4-months out of one before its unusable.
Well, that's why you register your controller with Microsoft. It has a1 year warranty. I've sent multiple back and gotten new ones in about a week or so. I actually just sent my elite controller in on Thursday so I would be receiving my new one within the next week or so. It pays to register and make a claim when you feel any type of stick drift.
