By mixing just two ingredients you could make 5 lb of this stuff for the same price

Really? You can't just mix cinnamon and sugar in smaller amounts?

Perhaps?....but other than a bakery, who would need 5 lbs. of this stuff? And get the mixture wrong (it's not 50/50) and good luck to you (as you can't separate the two ingredients). Then, you'll need a proper container to store it in....not to mention that both ingredients (especially the cinnamon) will expire long before you use even half of it. Thanks for the suggestion....but I'll pass on that idea.

Sure, and hope that there isn't another recall on a dollar store brand spices. EEK!EEK!EEK!
At this price, you could get the smallest size Penzeys sells and have about the right amount to add to a grinder with coarse sugar, and be good until it expires.

The point is, this is a somewhat high price for the composite of very cheap ingredients.

Who is to say this mixture is "wrong" seeing as taste is subjective and making it yourself makes it to your desired taste profile.

I think many deals posted here come down to this: whether it's easier/faster/cheaper to just do it yourself. For cinnamon sugar, I'd rather not do-it-myself when I can buy the McCormick mix for $4.34 and have it shipped to me for free. That's cheaper than the value of my time in driving to the grocery store, buying the ingredients, determining the right ratio, mixing, finding a suitable container. (Of course I do have cinnamon and sugar at home, but only the small tin of cinnamon.) I guess I'm just not interested in partaking in the Cinnamon Challenge when I can spend my time doing something else.

Would normally ignore bogus deals like this but seriously? You have sugar in your cabinet. Mix one spoon of cinnamon with four spoons of sugar. Enough cinnamon sugar to top your toast for a month!

Buying a mixture of two pantry ingredients at 4x cost "on sale" from Amazon is offensively not a deal.

Well, it's ~$3 lower than Walmart. Big Grin

Something else? Like posting unnecessarily verbose comments on Slickdeals?

REALLY???
Does cinnamon & sugar REALLY have to be mixed in a 50/50 ratio? And if it does, is that by weight or volume? For either, it would be pretty simple to mix it 50/50 at home (but it doesn't have to be that ratio, and in fact that's pretty strong).

Proper container?? Use an old glass jar or 1/2 pint jelly jar, or a 6 or 8 oz plastic tub, or a plastic bag, or any other small plastic container.

Cinnamon expires?? If you're concerned about that, buy it in bulk, a few tablespoons at a time. But it's going to be fine for a year or two or three.

Same with sugar.

But if you're determined to overpay for a big 15 oz container of pre-made cinnamon and sugar, and you're not worried about that "expiring", go for it! And enrich Jeff Bezos along the way.

I like cinnamon & sugar a little on the stronger side, but I've never made it 50% cinnamon - that would be super strong.

And if you're worried about recalls on cinnamon (or sugar?), what would make you think the pre-made stuff is any less likely to be subject to a recall?

Logical thinking.

After reading through the comments, I'd like to go in a different direction. Thanks, op! Just bought one. I assume everybody complaining doesn't actually use this stuff. I've tried other brands and made my own and in my opinion this tastes better than both. Sometimes DIY doesn't turn out as good as what the pros offer.
