I agree I'd go with 10th gen for the extra $50 but I have two 9th gen iPads at home and they run fine with web and gaming workloads. Your battery might be going or perhaps storage is nearly full.
Not my experience. Maybe sluggish on demanding games but everything else is snappy.
edit: I don't use Safari but I just gave it a try to test out your comment. I am able to open 5 tabs on different major websites and switch between them with no issues.
Not my experience either. Mine is snappy with no lag with streaming videos, web, Reddit, etc. Last iPad with a headphone jack but on the downside it still uses lightning cable.

Same here. DrRad was exaggerating his use case. This is perfectly serviceable as a media consumption, even at 64GB
Extremely sluggish tablet going into 2025. Spend the extra $50 on the 10th gen. The 9th should be under $100 now, it can barely run Safari without reloading tabs. ,
I've been using this for several months now since the first time it went on sale for $199.
This is not my experience. And frankly the largest difference between the 10th and 9th gen is the USBC, unsure if that's worth an additional 25% tax. The processors are virtually the same.
Definitely sluggish if you've ever used Chrome on an Android tablet. I go back and forth and Safari is slow as hell and cannot keep tabs open with refreshing. Even Firefox is better on Android and Firefox sucks. Safari is just too behind on W3C standards and PWAs barely work.
Dunno wtf you're doing man but even 5 - 6 tabs of 4k 60FPS porn without being sluggish.
Serious note do you even have an iPad or are you just trying to start something
I would agree, spend the $50 and get the 10. But sluggish is nonsense. We have an original iPad Air that is still going strong for streaming and surfing.
Great tablets for surfing the web if that's mainly what your using it for, but absolutely ridiculous storage going in 2025. Apple claims to care about the environment but 64gb is barely enough by today's standards.

I agree with these points. My 9th Gen with Cell is still going strong even with iOS 18

Was looking to replace a 5th gen….it still works but struggles with obvious frame rate issues most Roblox games at the lowest setting. Still streams videos just fine and plays other games ok. I will be holding out for 10th gen with Apple Pencil support to hit $200

Are you sure you have a 9th gen? I have a 9th and 6th and the oldest is just feeling a little sluggish.
