We have a bunch of APC ones. Eventually the batteries all go to shit. APC branded replacements are insanely expensive, if they even sell it.

We have found that this company (below link) usually has something that is compatible. And the battery lifespan tends to last much much longer than the original one and are very high quality. We use them for CyberPower ones as well
Whatever you do, don't buy Mighty Max batteries from Amazon, they truly don't last

Replacement and Recycling of Batteries:
This product is specified as "non-user replaceable battery) but this is not true. It's just that it's not super cost-effective combined with only "1-year" warranty on battery replacements vs. 3-year warranty on new units. So Schneider Electric (the manufacturer) recommends trashing the whole unit.

HOWEVER, you can easily find battery replacements online and some are quite good.
Cost is $20-30 for a battery. I consider that cost effective.

Replacement/installation requires a long, Philips-head screwdriver. That's all.

Make sure you have a long, about 10 inches phillips screwdriver. The screws are all the way down a really small hole at bottom of unit. The screwdriver has to be really thin also to get to the screw. I had to go and buy one.

I find it quite suspect that they do not post Ah for these "compatible" batteries they sell on your website.
I buy my batteries on Amazon.

Do these produce true sine wave, or diode driven stepped synthetic sine?
Simulated sine wave. The Cyberpower PFC has true sine wave. I have a couple.

I've only seen comments of running small devices like their router/modem, so i can't use this to run my desktop for an hour or more?
A low power desktop, like mine, for a few minutes at most. Just enough time to save and shut down. But no USB monitoring like the ones made for desktops, which is what I use for desktops.

Simulated sine is a series of rapid voltage off-on steps that follow a sine wave voltage waveform. OK for some electronics but not something for critical expensive electronics. FYI, some refrigerator control boards cannnot use a simulated sine. Not that this unit would be supplying a refrigerator, but I wanted to know what kind of output it was producing. Thanks for the answer.

This is modified sine wave for sure. You're not getting pure sine wave in this price range nor capacity.

What's sad if these lazy UPS makers actually thought about the consumer and the environment, they can easily design a 10+ year UPS around a Lifepo battery, but you know they won't.

Does anyone know how many watts or amps this draws while it's charging the battery?

I got this a while back and the battery lasted maybe 2 years.
I replaced the battery with this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BPCUXO/
it's a direct fit. the oem battery is just an 6Ah battery with F1 terminals.
I saw that Mighty Max SLA batteries have already been dissed here, but if you're up for a gamble Lowe's sells one that matches up to that one for only $18, with free shipping to store for pickup.

I would guess less than 10 watts. But I haven't measured it. And I already charged mine, so I would have to discharge it first to measure it.

APC - BE425M - 425VA - 255W - $24.95 + tax

This APC Back-UPS offers power and surge protection for wireless networks, computers, gaming consoles and other electronics in your home or business. The 425VA floor/wall mount UPS has 6 total outlets, 4 of which are battery back up and surge protection, and 2 that are surge protection only. It has a surge energy rating of 180 Joules. This battery backup is designed to power wireless home networking devices (router and modem) for hours during utility outages so you can stay connected and productive. This computer backup offers lifetime guaranteed surge protection with a $75,000 equipment protection policy. The side of this 425VA UPS includes 2 keyhole sockets to easily mount the battery backup on a wall in hard to reach installations. The outlets are arranged with spaces to accommodate both average sized power plugs and transformer block power plugs. Use the included PowerChute software to configure settings and set up automatic graceful shutdown of a connected PC in the event of an extended power outage. Audible alarms provide notification of changing utility power and UPS conditions. Audible alarms can be muted. This UPS has a 3-year warranty and CE product certification.

This will be my second purchase of the same model. Just hold power switch to turn off all audibles, or double tap... something like that. Never bothers me when power goes out.
