Seems to be because it's an IPS panel, so while it has a low contrast ratio, it has much better viewing angles than most other (non-OLED) tv's with a VA panel.

Had 2 Hisense tvs die on me w/n 12 months. The company did fix one under warranty, but doesn't change quality. It's the only brand TV I won't consider.
