Have had this for about a year. It's pretty good for a quick cook. The only complaint is that the grill runs hotter than the dial. I go one bar below the target temp and have had pretty good luck. The lid does come off easily for quick cleaning

Got a refurbished from Best Buy same price as this, pretty impressed, cooked steaks on it and at high temp got the nice grill marks on there. Have not used the griddle for pancakes etc yet, but should work well and is great when I dont want to stand in the rain or snow to grill when weather is bad!

This replacement plate says it's ceramic coating. I'm hoping that means the original plates that come with the unit are as well.

I wouldn't put too much hope on a product where the manufacturer is unwilling to describe the type of "non-stick coating" that they use. If you buy it, I would recommend not using metal utensils to cook on it, as other reviewers have stated that the coating comes off quite easily.
