T-mobile has a hidden plan for 30GB data a month data plan (you get your own sim and need your own device).

I got a cellular modem for $40: https://www.netgear.com/home/mobile-wifi/lte-modems/lm1200/ [netgear.com] and was able to use it with T-mobile's provided sim card.

Call in or use their online chat to inquire about the "Basic Mobile Internet 30GB plan (SOC: MI30TE or MI30TI)". It is $15/mo but you get a $5/mo discount by using autopay.

If you can't repro then you suck. This also provides you with a phone number for the data account and you get access to t-mobile tuesdays despite it only being a data plan Smilie

I was just able to add this to my account (currently Home Internet only) without an additional credit check. Confirmed $15/mo, $10/mo after autopay discount. $10 activation fee. I did have to verify the IMEI number, instructions below for Eufy users. Have your IMEI ready because the TMo rep started looking up articles in their support portal for security cameras and found docs for Arlo cameras, which have a more expensive plan. Fortunately, they activated me on this plan once the IMEI passed the check.
Eufy users: You must first switch the camera to 4G mode. After you do that, the IMEI is found under "About Device" along with the signal strength (I'm using the free trial of the EIOTCLUB SIM).
You just let the rep know you have a mobile hotspot on the way and you don't have the IMEI. They can "skip" that step

Got the deal online via chat. Rep offered a 2nd sim with 30gb hotspot for just $5 per month. Couldn't resist. Got activation fee waived on both sims.

Pretty sure just deprioritized.
It's also limited when watching FHD media... YouTube basically requires I fallback on my Canadian plan, turn on vpn, or watch at 360p...

If you want me to check anything specific, lmk.
Wife and I have been supplementing our Canadian lines with this

Ohh gotcha. It's got that Stream Saver BS.
thanks for the info.

how did you pay so far in advance for voice service?

i have need of a voice only service for my pixel 9 (don't need data at all). is it cheaper than hello mobile's $5/month unlimited talk plan?
I know some are using the data to use Google Voice on their phone.

I called and the bs rep I spoke to drug out the call for 45 minutes saying the best they could do was a $50. plan. I hung up. Fark this reminds me of talking to a T-Mo rep in store earlier this year with the hard sell.
You seem to have happened to hit a bad rep. All of them have such, TMo/ATT/VZW are no exceptions.
Just hang up and call again, and play nice and dumb. Being nice has actually helped me a lot more often than having to escalate to a manager.

Misleading - I pay 16 $ because of bunch of taxes
2 different plans. One is "tax included" and another is "tax excluded". You must have the tax excluded plan. I have 3 lines for more than 10 months, no tax billed.

Just use your Hot Spot data, when you need it. Why even pay 10.00 a month?
I use it just for data. My voice/text SIM is just basic unlimited without data for less than $10/month. So my unlimited voice/text + 30GB data is less than $20/month.

Does anyone know if this is locked to a location (home) or can this be used e.g. for a hotspot e.g. in a car?
Not locked to a location. I have it in my phone and my kid's phone for data with another low price unlimited voice/text SIM

Looks like this requires both an existing voice line and a home internet line.
Not true. Doesn't require existing home Internet line. $20/month if you don't have existing voice line with TM.

People wasting a hard pull on this garbage? Absolutely no brains but that's because they already have a 440 score anyway so...
If you are 100% new to TM, they will probably do a hard credit pull. I had TM more than 15 years ago. They took my SSN but didn't do a hard pull.

Have had this in my pixel 9 and previously pixel 8 since like July. I use it in conjunction with $96 annually US Mobile plan for the unlimited talk and text. also when you sign up in Costco etc they often have second line for half price.
I have the same set up with a different phone. Works great for my need. Got both unlimited voice/text and large enough 5G data amount to use. Set up the same way for my kid.

It shows the backup plan at $10 with autopay. How's he paying double?
$10 if you have an existing voice line with TM. Otherwise, it's $20, so that's double of $10 hotspot plan.
