T-mobile has a hidden plan for 30GB data a month data plan (you get your own sim and need your own device).

I got a cellular modem for $40: https://www.netgear.com/home/mobile-wifi/lte-modems/lm1200/ [netgear.com] and was able to use it with T-mobile's provided sim card.

Call in or use their online chat to inquire about the "Basic Mobile Internet 30GB plan (SOC: MI30TE or MI30TI)". It is $15/mo but you get a $5/mo discount by using autopay.

If you can't repro then you suck. This also provides you with a phone number for the data account and you get access to t-mobile tuesdays despite it only being a data plan Smilie

For those with 2 lines, do you have to have two different hotspot? Or can you both use it in one hotspot. Do you have to switch out the sim?

I see on Amazon a 4G router. Do you have a link to the 5G version?Edit: Or were you referring to the bandwidth for the wifi from the router?Edit 2: I saw your response to another question in this thread, I see you had meant LTE. How much battery life do you get from this device? And is there a way to switch this device on and off so that the battery doesn't continue to drain?
On full charge it can last a whole work day (8+ hours). The device gets warm during use and if left in the backpack without ventilation could get quite hot, which drains the battery faster. The router has a power button on the side so it can be turned on and off.
To further conserve power, I disable the 2.4GHz wifi and set the signal strength lower.

TLDR: that deal post was from a month ago and hasn't seen activity for weeks, so the new post is fine.

If you feel something is a repost there's no need to comment in the discussion, just flag it and the mods will sort it out.

I just signed up the backup plan (130GB) for an uncle. He doesn't have internet at home but he's been using his phone for internet (hotspot); his line is on my family plan. I want to set up some cameras for him and get a voip line for him but using his phone as a hotspot is a PIA for all these connections. I was able to get it for $15/mo, they're shipping the whole router / gateway to his address next week so I'll help him set it up. I don't have autopay discount on my voice lines (legacy SC plan) so I doubt I will be able to get it on the internet backup plan to drop it to $10/mo. Yeah he's just using this at his house so it's well worth it for just $15/mo for 130GB.
I would love to have this plan.
Not available for either place.
We only spend every other weekend at the other place so I'm too cheap to get full wifi.
I think I will go with this route with the 30gb. It should be enough for me.
I just need connection full time cause I want my security camera and other smart things I can monitor while away.

Was able to get two lines for my Jaguar and my Thinkpad to work. Took me almost an hour with a rep to get me those lines.

Which device did you go with for your vehicle

I almost posted the Costco deals as a separate deal - buying this through Costco is super slick (front page worthy... between the waived fees, cheap monthly plan, and $25 cash back...).You could always cancel the plan you bought and open a new line through Costco, but there is the 30 minute wait to talk to an agent...
I think you should post as a separate deal.

Is it for mobile internet, tablet lines, and watch lines? Consumer plans or business plans?

MWR500 - smart watch standalone plan, 1 for $7/mo or 2 for $10.50 per month
MI30TI - the Hotspot plan associated with this thread, 1 for $10/mo, or 2 for $15/mo
These are consumer plans.
Agent confirmed that buy 1 get 1 50% off is not for cell phone plans. They said the monthly rate is permanent if both lines stay open. Otherwise, they switch to the normal rate.
Every line you open qualifies for $25 back from Costco. $0 down (they waved all shipping and activation fees), no contract, but a soft credit check is required. They do take your credit card number because you are required to set up autopay to get that monthly rate.

Thank you OP. I didn't know I miss this deal. I call the T-Mobile rep. He was be able to get it for $10 w/o an issue. It'll be $10.98 for activation fee which I don't mind.

So they need SSN number to sign up for this plan?

I wouldn't trust TMo with my SSN if they were paying me to open the account.
