How difficult is stainless steel to clean? Maybe equally important question, how easy is it to get dirty/food stuck while cooking or burning. Note I have 3 little kids under 5 so my wife and I are super busy multi tasking. I want to make the transition to steel since long run cheaper and better and no leaching chemicals like other non stick

It's nothing like cast iron if that's your concern. Very easy to clean in my experience.

Everything I've read online states that it's all about preheating until water beads up and sizzles - then add your fats for non stick and good to go- unfortunately my wife isn't buying into it- I rally hate the idea of PFAS and Non-Stick forever chemicals- cancer isn't that cool—-really wish I could convince her, I'd rock these in a second

I got this during a previous sale. Great price and still happy with them after 3 years. Not that bad to clean but obviously harder than non stick.

It's easy to clean if you learn how to cook on it properly. But... for a family of 5i don't think this is likely the right set. Everything is a bit small.

Not really. The D5 is much heavier for marginal benefit. I would stick with the d3.

Seen a lot of recommendations for this product called barkeeper's friend. Got it and used it on oil stain that seemed baked in, and now it looks like new. Little bit of effort but effective

How does this compare to the Costco deal for $549 for a 12 piece set?

For comparison, this deal from Macy's comes with:
10" fry pan
2 quart saucepan
3 quart saute pan
6 quart stockpot
3 lids

In contrast, the Costco deal comes with:
8" fry pan
10" fry pan
12" fry pan
3 quart saute pan
2 quart sauce pan (also in
3 quart sauce pan
8 quart stock pot
Steamer insert (fits in 3 quart sauce pan)
4 lids

I don't have a good sense of which items will be more useful for a typical family of 4. Which do people think is better?

Correct, I recently started using the method and if you're methodical it works as advertised. However, it does take extra attention, especially if you're frying a bunch of dissimilar things. I like the challenge though and now use the same method for my non-stick pans as well.

This is a pretty normal product deal on this small set.
The Costco deal on the All-Clad 12-piece set for $550 is the real lowest-price-ever slick deal.

How does this compare to the Tramontina 12-piece Tri-Ply Clad at Costco for $199.99 in terms of quality and usage. Not the name but the quality?

Yes. It holds heat better but it is heavier.
