The old JIS standard has been superseded by and incorporated into the new Philips one. So any modern high quality Philips bit, like the ones included in this set, will fit JIS screws.

I actually really like the holder as well. I think I prefer this to the book style holders. 2nd row slides up to give easy access to the back row. Flip top prevents the bits from sliding out. They also slide out of their slots easy enough by hand. 100% agree with you though... These are my favorite bits. 2nd favorite are makita xps.
