It's not just about the connection type. The high volume setting may work decently well, but that's still at basically 0psi. Then you have to inflate the SUP to 15psi which will take an hour or more using the high pressure feature. Most inflators can't even stay on that long given their duty cycle.
Better options are either an air compressor or two stage SUP inflator.

Picked up the Milwaukee M18 inflator and ordered a brass quick connect chuck. It doesn't have the high volume pump for the odd pool blow up and air mattress, but that side of my old Ryobi dual inflator still works.
Something like this. Hoping it just has to be put on Ryobi plastic adapter once securely then leave it on.

1) Pull the outer ring up.
2) Press the connector down as far down the stem as you can.
3) release outer ring immediately.
Personally I think this is better design much faster after a few practices.

Edit: I think I figured it out. The $25 deal is for high pressure inflation applications only (tires, balls) while this one does that but also works for high *volume* inflation like air mattresses and it can deflate.
