Some electric ones are awesome. $20, can get hot as hell, last 12 hours on a reasonable setting, can also be used power bank. Bought 2 of these last year and I'm sold. https://a.co/d/1oOklDz

The other poster is wrong. You have to carry a lighter or some form of flame to activate these units.
They produce heat via a catalytic reaction, which requires a flame to start. Once it's "lit" there's no flame just fuel breaking down.

I have Raynaud's and was given the same one you linked as a gift and agree with everything you said. The electric one is a life saver and super convenient and easy. I've had it for, I think, 4 years now and it is still going strong.

Are the electric ones safe on skin, such as you just holding it in your jacket pocket? We go to outside events and I don't wear gloves, but would like to use something like this in my jacket pockets where is could hold them.

Reviews seem mixed. Some say it's okay while others say no skin contact, only with gloves.
Holding mine right now sitting at my office desk. It's on low and definitely not too hot. Medium is borderline hot. Lightly holding it's okay. Squeeze it for 5 seconds and it's uncomfortable. High is just damn hot. Put it in the breast pocket of your jacket.

I will note that the heat cycles up and down. Not terribly but it's definitely noticeable.

Thank you! I have used the hot packets, the once use kind and of course they don't get too hot, but would be nice to have an electric one as they will stay warmer longer, be a bit warmer, and have many usages.

Being in TX we wouldn't use the hot setting much, and I would probably only use the low setting. I would only use it a few times a year, so maybe just the disposable ones would work best for me.

Thanks again!!

Unless it's user error, I'm not generating enough heat with this zippo hand warmer. I wouldn't recommend it. Will look into electric hand warmers as others have suggested.

Was about to jump on a pair for walking the dog in the winter, but there is no reliable way to extinguish it. Basically you have to let the fuel burn out EACH TIME. That's dumb, pass.
If you put it in a Ziploc bag and seal it off, the lack of oxygen will extinguish it. Been doing this for years with my zippo that I take into subzero temperatures for ice fishing.

Will those fit in gloves?

Anyone know what the best deal $/mAh is? Seems like there are hundreds of the smaller 2000-3000x2 mAH one sided ones.

I assume they're basically all the same except the expensive ones with fast charging? Though I suppose the cheap ones might not insulate the battery enough and kill it quickly

Can they be run off of USB is the batter is dead? E.g. from a larger power bank?

Problem is, butane fuel smells like sh1t, litterally. Does it make your hands smell like one after you use it for a while?

Like many have said, these are hard to light. The catalytic elements on these suck. I found that ebay/ali fuel hand warmer's elements lights much easier. So I snapped those onto the zippo one since it has higher fuel capacity. To "turn it off", I use the cap to snap off the element which distinguishes it. Using a zippo lighter to light it is a bad idea, as it soots up the element. While in use, they also smell of lighter fluid. Overall not a good experience, it does get hot though. I stopped using mine as it's too troublesome and smelly to be worth it.

Safe, Reusable Electric Hands Heater: Reusable hand warmers are more energy saving and cost saving than disposable hand warmers. High-precision resistance-capacitance components and UL certified li-ion batteries provide ultimate protection. The upgraded 10,000mAh Power lasts longer and stronger than ever.

ul listed, thank goodness.

For anyone curious and wanting to find the best $/mAh deal for the electric hand warmers, these 12k mAH are $10 [amazon.com] or $0.82/kmAh, has 12k mAh, QC3.0 and PD2 20W charging. The one downside I found is it is only 2 heating levels instead of 3, but the one review that talks about it claims that the heating levels are "better chosen" than the 3-level ones they had tested.
