My new Pixel 9 is now carrier unlocked and OEM/bootloader unlocked.

The discussion with Mint customer service rep yesterday resulted in a trouble ticket being assigned to the "backend office". I was told I'd "receive an e-mail within 24-48 hours".

Late this morning (less than 24 hours after the ticket was issued) the new phone had a notification that the phone was carrier unlocked.

Under Developer Options the OEM unlocking was immediately selectable--I need this for installing the after-market ROM, but this bootloader unlocking is tied to the carrier unlocking.

Soon thereafter I received another notification: "No service" and "Selected network (Mint) unavailable". That may be due to the fact that I had previously deselected "Automatically select network" in settings. So I selected the "Choose network" option and then selected "Mint" (the only option since I hadn't changed Sims) and a few seconds later I was back in business.

I never received the e-mail from the backend office, but everything seems to be working.

To answer a couple other questions folks have asked: My understanding is that this is a permanent carrier unlocking. I believe I'd told the Mint customer service rep (Kylah) that I was going to be going on international travel (as the excuse for needing it carrier unlocked right away). I had paid for a year of service along with the phone. The fact that the service is already fully paid-for is one of the requirements you need to meet for them to unlock your phone right away. I ordered Tuesday of last week and received it via FedEx on Friday. I had used an eSim for the Mint service on this phone. I'm a brand new customer of Mint, but I don't think that should matter.

If I receive an e-mail from the backend office and it contributes any additional information I'll post a follow-up message.

I'd actually ported-in a burner phone number to this service. So after I load GrapheneOS, I'm going to switch numbers (port-in) so my new phone has my main phone number. Hopefully that will take less time and I'll get less of a run-around doing that.

Good luck!

That's amazing ! I just logged into my account and went to new phones and it showed it for $299!

Below is my order breakdown:

Nice!

Wasn't expecting to upgrade my phone but at this price its a no brainer for a better finger print sensor!

I think the below link can take you directly to Pixel 9. I just googled "mint mobile pixel 9"

https://www.mintmobile.com/device...HREALw_wcB
I think the issue with doing it outside of the app is that it forces you to add a plan. Unless you are able to get the link to redirect to the app somehow?

I was able to find the sale for the phone only in the black friday section on the website. The site overall is very glitchy, and the purchase was not linked to my account login at all, I needed to enter all delivery and contact info like a new customer.

The order confirmation email i received was also odd, it says they are checking things over, not providing details or saying the order is accepted. I was charged for the purchase though...

Overall, I wouldn't be surprised if the phone-only orders get cancelled as a price mistake.

The fingerprint sensor still is bad on my P9P. I weirdly feel like it was better on my p8p.

Since Mint Mobile runs on T-Mobile 5G network, can Mintmobile locked phone used with Tmobile cellphone plan before unlock? Or now a day locked cellphone are locked into the MVNOs carriers and not the cell networks?

Order placed from the website after getting a new number instead of porting in.

It probably won't affect you but I will share with you anyway since you asked. The US version does not have the cellular bandwidth support of all 4g bands. The US version Pixel 9 (and other previous Pixels) is missing the Band39 for LTE and N79 for 5G to be specific. So it won't work for some carriers outside the US that uses primarily the Band39 and N79.

See version comparision below:

I bought one and im glad OP listed it as 300 or i wouldn't have seen it. I thought i messed up when i renewed for a whole year without any upgrade path and was gonna wait till next year, even though my Motorola is really showing its age.

So is the bootloader of the phone locked until the phone is unlocked? And you can't unlocked the phone including the bootloader until 60 days after you activate it with a mint plan?

MINT 40GB/mo plan is worth $250-300. Runs on fast 5G network in city.

So Pixel 9 phone cost you only $180-220, not too bad for 128GB locked.
60-90gb for storage, buy usbc 128-256gb stick for extra storage.
Last year Pixel 6a 128GB was $85-100 locked.

Pixel 7 Pro 512gb is $400 at Woot unlock if you need more storage. Use CITI/CHASE/AMEX

this is a nice deal!
wish i could convince my parents to upgrade their old phones but they dont seem care. I got the P9Pro during the crazy Best buy deal so I have no need but still.

These have just tanked in price. I wonder if google is purposely dropping these prices to convince people to switch from apple.
They are running the same tactics as Samsung, after you switched you may not going back

God dammit just did the 579 deal last week. Anyone know if they'll refund the difference?
I had the same situation and they told me I need to return the original order (and pay for shipping) to get a refund and then I can order it again.
