The discussion with Mint customer service rep yesterday resulted in a trouble ticket being assigned to the "backend office". I was told I'd "receive an e-mail within 24-48 hours".
Late this morning (less than 24 hours after the ticket was issued) the new phone had a notification that the phone was carrier unlocked.
Under Developer Options the OEM unlocking was immediately selectable--I need this for installing the after-market ROM, but this bootloader unlocking is tied to the carrier unlocking.
Soon thereafter I received another notification: "No service" and "Selected network (Mint) unavailable". That may be due to the fact that I had previously deselected "Automatically select network" in settings. So I selected the "Choose network" option and then selected "Mint" (the only option since I hadn't changed Sims) and a few seconds later I was back in business.
I never received the e-mail from the backend office, but everything seems to be working.
To answer a couple other questions folks have asked: My understanding is that this is a permanent carrier unlocking. I believe I'd told the Mint customer service rep (Kylah) that I was going to be going on international travel (as the excuse for needing it carrier unlocked right away). I had paid for a year of service along with the phone. The fact that the service is already fully paid-for is one of the requirements you need to meet for them to unlock your phone right away. I ordered Tuesday of last week and received it via FedEx on Friday. I had used an eSim for the Mint service on this phone. I'm a brand new customer of Mint, but I don't think that should matter.
If I receive an e-mail from the backend office and it contributes any additional information I'll post a follow-up message.
I'd actually ported-in a burner phone number to this service. So after I load GrapheneOS, I'm going to switch numbers (port-in) so my new phone has my main phone number. Hopefully that will take less time and I'll get less of a run-around doing that.
Good luck!
Below is my order breakdown:
Nice!
Wasn't expecting to upgrade my phone but at this price its a no brainer for a better finger print sensor!

I'm currently with Verizon and want to stay there. I understand that i can get the promo 3-month new mint user deal, buy the phone for 299, then wait 60 days. Once unlocked, will I definitely be able to just plug in my existing Verizon sim card and be good to go? Or will Verizon tell me it isn't sufficiently unlocked for that? thanks in advance!
The above follows what the Mint Fox chat rep (Jes) communicated to me.
I have been Mint customer for over 4 years now. I seem to still be able to see the phone only deal following the stops posted upthread a few times by helpful members.
My worry is unable to have it unlocked in due course.
Could you guys share your methods? Much appreciated!

I was able to navigate to the screen that showed Pixel 9 at the bottom AFTER log in. However the price shown upfront now is the $479 with plan. Yet, once you clicked open the detail, the next screen would give you Phone Only $299 price.
I decided to test my luck despite the reported order cancellation, went ahead to place a one phone order. The screen hung up after clicking Check Out, as in the whole screen turned white washed, and just hang up there without giving Order Confirmation screen for several minutes. I thought the order did not go thru. So I started anew - this time the ordering process was smooth and I did get the Order Confirmation screen. So I thought I only ordered ONE phone, haha.
What I should have done is to check my inbox FIRST, before attempting a second order - it turned out that the first order DID go thru, got Mint confirmation email AND AMEX card not present transaction alert. The tax was $20+ for shipping to Florida.
So now I have TWO orders in place for TWO phones, IF the orders are not canceled in coming days.
Since both orders are under my name, I am not sure if it would matter when we stick the physical SIMs into the new phones, that each has its own account with different account owner. My guess is that does not matter because the physical SIMs go by the existing accounts, as long as it works as the chat rep claimed, then we would be all set.
Our existing plans will expire on January 17 and 19 respectively. Hence we would need to renew our existing plans before the 60 days are up anyway.
I thought about buying this as a new customer with the 1 year plan which has been what we use the past 4 years, the timing actually would be perfect, as in activation in 45 days. The issue is we dont have any number to port in for this offer.
Though I doubt the 2 orders would survive. But for those still want to try, you CAN still get to the $299 offer AFTER log in. Follow the exact steps by using the top left corner menu to reach the screen, ignore the $479 price tag and go into the Details screen.
Oh, the orders do not show up in my Mint account I used the check order status link someone posted earlier to check order status. Currently of course it shows just the order details and no other information available. Will it survive thru the weekend then get shipped? would update the the thread.
Edit: Nevermind, completely missed comes with 12 months making this a pretty good deal, about half off for subscription.
The price of my 3 month plan went down hours after I bought it, the only option was for me to cancel and get a refund.
Chat rep told me yesterday that it would take 24 hours to process. It's been longer than that.
It's a U.S. holiday, of course, but I would have thought the automated systems would have processed it by now. Wondering if I should place another order or just wait and see.
