For those of you who ordered as existing customers and intend to use the existing plans' SIMs, can each posts his experience on how it works once the new phone is in hand and you try to use it?
This would help the community a lot. Much thanks in advance!

Online chat. I asked how they could do it without imei, jusy using order#. He mentioned that the backend team would have it. Again, I'm still not 100% confident with what he said. Can confirm in two days when I have the phone.
Thanks @mkrp!

For anybody else wanting to know about getting their phone purchased through this deal unlocked right away: Well, I'm still not sure ...

I ended up calling Mint's toll-free number. After walking me through porting a number into the new service the customer service rep explained that phones can be unlocked immediately for special circumstances, including international travel. He explained I merely needed to call Google at 650-253-0000 and ask them to perform a "google factory reset" after which my phone would be carrier unlocked (and thus bootloader unlocked, which is what I actually need--I want to install GrapheneOS).

"I'm supposed to call Google and they'll unlock my phone?"

"Yes, I know how this sounds, but please rest assured that I've had this identical situation with multiple other customers and this is what you do and you will have your phone unlocked right away."

We spent a couple more minutes talking through what they'd do, and he actually convinced me that I was going to get my phone unlocked. After hanging up with Mint I called the Google number. After making my way through the phone maze I received a recording that this department was "closed for holiday; please go to our website for hours of operation".

Calling the manufacturer? How would they know that I don't have an outstanding financial obligation to the carrier? I'm hopeful but still a bit skeptical I'll get my phone unlocked on Monday.

Anyone have success with this offer as an existing customer?
unfortunately not. there are people here saying they were able to buy the Pixel 9 alone (existing customer with no add'l need to by additional time on their current plan) but I had no luck either on their website, on the Mint app and even no luck calling their live customer service. apparently YMMV on that $299 for existing customer discussion. if someone knows how I can do that... please post as I'd be willing to buy the phone to upgrade for $299+taxes but not $799. heck, I'd also be willing to do the $479 or whatever with an addition year on my existing plan.

My wife and I's plan renewed a few days ago for 12 months. I was able to order two $299 phones a day later with no issue by looking at phones through the app. I ordered them on Monday night, they shippped on Tuesday night and we got them this afternoon. We got them today popped in our sims and set up the phones and they are working perfectly. This is the best deal of the black friday phone deals I am glad I got in on it.

Thank sooo much for the update. When you said set up the phones, what exactly you had to do to set it up other than inserting the existing SIMs? Sorry for asking dumb question as this is our first time in this kind of situation.
We ordered the phones yesterday, received shipped confirmations this afternoon. FedEx tracking showed shipping labels created. Hopefully we will receive ours next Tue or Wed.

Cant comments about Metro, but Mint service is practically unusable in crowded areas. The deprioritizing of data is highly evident.
I have definitely seen this at concerts.

Did you activated with eSIM or physical sim option. Can it be activated immediately with physical sim?

I received my pixel today. I ordered it for 299. Not an existing customer. Didnt order a plan with it, just the phone. Was going to switch to mint for a few months and then switch back to USMobile, but I messed up on the Visible Iphone 13 deal. Long story short, iphone was going to be for my wife but when I ordered I put my port info in, thinking I could change it later. Nope, my number got ported. So Im stuck with Visible for a year. Instead I ordered a pixel off the google store and traded in my pixel 8 and price matched with the amazon deal for 548. Was going to return this 299 phone, but I think I might sell it.
