My new Pixel 9 is now carrier unlocked and OEM/bootloader unlocked.

The discussion with Mint customer service rep yesterday resulted in a trouble ticket being assigned to the "backend office". I was told I'd "receive an e-mail within 24-48 hours".

Late this morning (less than 24 hours after the ticket was issued) the new phone had a notification that the phone was carrier unlocked.

Under Developer Options the OEM unlocking was immediately selectable--I need this for installing the after-market ROM, but this bootloader unlocking is tied to the carrier unlocking.

Soon thereafter I received another notification: "No service" and "Selected network (Mint) unavailable". That may be due to the fact that I had previously deselected "Automatically select network" in settings. So I selected the "Choose network" option and then selected "Mint" (the only option since I hadn't changed Sims) and a few seconds later I was back in business.

I never received the e-mail from the backend office, but everything seems to be working.

To answer a couple other questions folks have asked: My understanding is that this is a permanent carrier unlocking. I believe I'd told the Mint customer service rep (Kylah) that I was going to be going on international travel (as the excuse for needing it carrier unlocked right away). I had paid for a year of service along with the phone. The fact that the service is already fully paid-for is one of the requirements you need to meet for them to unlock your phone right away. I ordered Tuesday of last week and received it via FedEx on Friday. I had used an eSim for the Mint service on this phone. I'm a brand new customer of Mint, but I don't think that should matter.

If I receive an e-mail from the backend office and it contributes any additional information I'll post a follow-up message.

I'd actually ported-in a burner phone number to this service. So after I load GrapheneOS, I'm going to switch numbers (port-in) so my new phone has my main phone number. Hopefully that will take less time and I'll get less of a run-around doing that.

Good luck!

That's amazing ! I just logged into my account and went to new phones and it showed it for $299!

Below is my order breakdown:

Nice!

Wasn't expecting to upgrade my phone but at this price its a no brainer for a better finger print sensor!

I bought a 3 month physical SIM card plan for Mint from Best Buy. After I activated and created an account, I login and open the direct link to Pixel 9 in another tab, but it doesn't give me an option to purchase it without a year plan. How can I see the option to purchase it without a yearly plan, as a new "existing" user? Can anyone help ?
that's what i did a couple weeks ago. at the time, this worked for me:

On the computer/website I scrolled absolutely to the bottom of the page and in the section called Shop Phones by Brand, clicked on Google Phones. Then the Pixel 9 was available and when i clicked on it, was able to buy it without a plan.

Thanks! Here's what ended up working for me: I added a Pixel 9 with $180 plan. Then logged in again. Then clicked the direct link and saw option to add to cart without plan. Added to cart. Removed the other pixel with plan. Checked out and placed order. Hope it helps someone else!

Nice! I was able to buy two Pixel 9 for $299 each. I first bought the unlimited plan and activated an esim using my existing phone. Then I signed into my Mint account that I created using the newly activated esim. It let me add the Pixels for the 299. Checked out. Thanks everyone!

Got 1 phone unlocked
- Chat via https://www.mintmobile.com/help-center/
- Customer Care created ticket on 2024-12-13. Gave them both IMEI. They asked for phone order number.
- Got phone unlock via text on phone 2024-12-18
- Checked OEM setting under developer settings and it's toggleable now

Phone is connected to Mint with 3 months prepaid esim

Any recommended case?

Anyone doing this? Currently have Visible on $45mo plan. I would get this, port my visible # to Mint for the phone. After 2 - 3 months, go back to visible for a $20mo deal.

Has anyone tried this or think this is a good/bad idea?

I am on Google fi (group plan), I see 549-250 off on a pixel 9 at Google store.

But i suppose this is a better deal with 1 yr service included?

Does mint mobile roam when overseas without any additional plans, when on wifi I want to be able to get sms and WiFi calling

MM does not really roam, except for perhaps Canada (and Mexico?). You DO get sms and Wifi calling with Wifi.

I am going to keep mine for use but that appears to be worthwhile as I am in for about $361 total for a Pixel 9. Sold prices on Ebay appear to be higher...

I got an unlocked phone, didn't have to do anything. HOWEVER, on low brightness there's a ton of purple smearing when scrolling. Here's an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIEl3IddOcQ

For those actually using the phones, can you please install this app [google.com] and tell me what the LCM is?

Mine is a `tk4b` panel which is apparently made by BOE [androidpolice.com]:

Even for wifi calling, i'd think it has to connect to a partner provider right for cellular?

Terrible, I have 5 on sale, sold one,at the end I will probably make $70 profit, with holidays and Christmas coming up it might pick up a little bit but don't have high hopes.

I had 2 ebay scams and all are pixel phones.

Just bough another pixel 9 without the plan and received 45$ from amex offer.
