Oh, on a side note, since the app isn't letting me edit the original post, this is a reissue of the original G1 toy, but in toon accurate colors. The trailer is kind of plain looking, as a result and most of the chrome is done in white. I think it's an especially cool approach for the 40th anniversary, but if you want original toy accurate, this isn't the one.
Oops forgot to post this this morning I got it to go with my 25th anniversary version. Can't believe that was only $27 and this one is regular price $75
It came with a DVD a comic and a sound box.

Normally 75. Nice price on this collectible. A walmart and Hasbropulse exclusive in the US.

Given that it is an exclusive, are TF "investors" seeing this as a collectors item? Otherwise even at this discount it seems a bit high in price.

I think so. This one has been difficult for many to get, even at the $75 price point. A lot of people flipping for 150 on ebay on the day it released this past summer.

You don't really buy these as an investment from Walmart. If they ship, they usually don't package that great, and box will likely come banged up

Not sure you really buy these as an investment regardless. Maybe it's more buy for your kid so they could enjoy same toy you did. Or have so you can open and relieve your youth a bit.

All these reissues usually aren't worth saving to sell at some future date. Sometimes you do, but kinda feels more often than not that's the case.

$50 seems fair for this as a reissue. Even if just to buy for parts and maybe display. Optimus is notorious for losing parts as a kid. And weapons/accessories can get a little costly. I think most true collectors will be able to tell difference in parts in vintage vs reissue, but they might still want to get this to fill in missing parts or just to display. The trailer is a bit different then the G1 one I think (color/decal scheme). As is the case with all these other Transformer "Retro" series sets.

Generally I agree, but I would note that I've gotten 3 of these from Walmart so far, and on these at least, their shipping has been perfect. Right size boxes, correct amount of packaging, and has arrived within 2 days each time. Everything else i order from Walmart comes banged up, but with these, at least, they appear to be doing better.

Heh, i dont shop from Walmart too often, but what stuff ive bought from them last 2-3 years, zero f%$@s given. All the boxed retro Transformers Ive bought came in a bigger box with 0 packing materials. I think 1 they fit in a smaller box, so the top flap was bent. It didn't really bother me though, since I bought to open.

I'm in CA, so packaging probably depends on distribution center/store.

And GI Joe figures were bent in half in bubble envelopes. Walmart can be terrible.

Fair point. Well, the Washington distribution center is doing a good job with these at least. Probably a fellow bot lover working out of this one. 😅

SO tempting. But with missing link and siege Optimus and other upcoming Optimus with trailer coming is it worth it to pick this one up as well? Thoughts?

I really like it. There's something about the whole package that just makes me happy. 😁 I haven't opened mine and don't plan to. If looking for posability, missing link is probably the way to go, but that's more than double the price too.
