I just called Verizon and got to their customer retention team saying I'd like to explore options on discounts since I'm also looking at going to T-Mobile.

They gave me a lifetime $25 discount + $10 discount per line for the next 12 months and I can call back after 12 months to extend basically ask for that discount again.

Now I'm a Verizon customer of 16 years and it is the week of thanksgiving aka black friday and cyber monday so they may pull extra strings.

I also think I am overpaying so maybe they gave me discounts to get to an average of what people are paying. I was paying $135 for 2 lines, now I'm at $90.

Take this as you wish but this is just my experience today the Monday before thanksgiving.

What's the reason to pay $45/line when you can pay $25 max on another Version -based MVNO?

I'm sure their reduced auto pay discount unless you move to a new plan is not sitting well with a lot of people. I'll have to try this.

I just finished my $10 per month per line promotion. It lasts 12 months and at the end they WILL NOT extend it even after threatening to go to T-Mobile or AT&T. I had this fight with them just last week.

like the OP, i'm a 16 year customer. i talked to the cancel specialist mentioning the tmobile/costco plan, and it esentially saved nothing. (i might save $10 to get me off my old plan, but then i'd lose free disney+ worth $10/mo which we happen to use a little). the ideal would have been nice to get the $25 off that the OP got, plus also a new netflix premium plan (as mine expires 12/15).

My last $10/mo/line for 1-year loyalty offer just ended. I tried to repeat the steps that got me that discount (turn off number security, request port out pin, wait) once right away and again during the following billing cycle. The day after the more recent attempt, I received a text offering a $10/mo/ active phone line for a year, but it said to call 611 to activate the discount. No one knows anything about it, but they saw the text and told me it should automatically apply within two billing cycles. I am not afraid to follow their dispute resolution process if it doesn't happen, but for those who want to give it a go without talking to anyone - try this and good luck!

I'm in the same boat. My 1 year loyalty discount just ended. Did the port out and number security steps right now. I got the $10 off per line offer a few minutes later. Going to call to see if I can get the additional life time discount ($25).

I got them to extend mine after 3 hours on the phone. They agreed to extend last month for 12 months, then got the bill yesterday and it wasn't on there. So getting ready for another fight with them.

My bill went from $70/month in October to $88 in November despite no changes to my plan. If they can't find a way to scale it back, I'm absolutely leaving.

I'm on the 5G Play More plan and I barely use the Hulu/Disney that comes with it. I had hoped they'd offer another deal to get Netflix cheap for a year but I have seen one, so there's no reason for me to remain loyal.

How do you get to their customer retention department? They have been taking my money for over 20 years and first for about 10. They don't give me sh*t.

I switched to ATT in October via Sams Online. $300 gift card per line. $150 per line over 36 months. New 16 Pro over 16 months. Can you beat that?

You have to deal with AT&T's network. If you never leave major metropolitan areas, it's probably fine, but start going too far off the beaten path (i.e. a major interstate) and reception can get quite a bit more iffy really quick.

Verizon is a shitty company in a lot of ways, but not because of their network coverage. They've probably invested more into that than any other US carrier.

Same boat here. Not only did the $10 off per line end, buy they charged $9.xx per line on the last month. Did anyone of you get this prorated type charge?
I also switched over to the new Unlimited Welcome plan since it was about $9 less than the old discontinued plan now that the $10/line stopped and the $10 paperless/auto went down to $5 and also charging $3 for being in the old plan. So for 6 lines it's $27/line now. Oh and they're taking $20 off for 55+ for the account.
I'll try to call retention and see if they can do the $10 off/line for a year again, and $25 off lifetime.
