There's two different versions of it though. I bought this exact item recently and it was not the one with hall-effect sticks. You can see that version here:

The joysticks are magnetic instead of metal on metal contact. Metal on metal degrades over time causing stick drift and basically a useless controller. Magnets don't degrade, so the joyticks last a lot longer.

"The Hall effect is the deflection of electrons in an n-type semiconductor with current flowing perpendicular to a magnetic field. The deflection of these charged carriers sets up a voltage, called the Hall voltage, whose polarity depends on the effective charge of the carrier."

Very informative.

On topic, I bought this at $25. I find the shoulder buttons excessively responsive leading to false inputs on the slightest mistouch. Very annoying for NES Online play and other games that use shoulder buttons to pull up menus.
