The listing does not mention the material of construction nor does the tools. That leads me to believe they are carbon steel versus high speed steel. Carbon steel is fine for cleaning out existing threaded holes but they will not tap new threads in any steel and it will be marginal in cast iron. These taps will break easily and then you are stuck with an object that you can't remove out of the threads. I no longer will use carbon steel for any tap because it has caused more problems then they solve.
