i used to use pods and buy them on sale b/c i never really knew how much of the powder detergent to put in. but now after watching a 10 min youtube video on dishwashers, I now just buy the powder detergent and the dishes come out just as clean and I save 50-70% on the detergent by not buying the pods.

5.62 with clipped subscribe and save coupon for 75oz — about 1oz per load so about .08 per load.

and this is the name brand. the guy says generic is fine. would be even cheaper for the generic brand 0.068 per load

I know this guy! My favorite video by him is this one that criticizes pods with a cut-through window to actually show us a dishwasher in action to prove his points.

I've seen the famous YT video and I don't know if it's local water or something else but I can't use powdered detergent because it's irritating and I start sneezing every time. We used plain liquid detergent and our dishes were not always very clean and dishwasher itself had to be cleaned regularly. Since we switched to these pods, all problems went away. The dishes are always sparkly clean, no residue on the glasses. And I only need to wipe the dishwasher around the seal. Inside it's completely clean and looks like new. If plain detergent works for you, then great. But I don't want to go back. And again not sure why but only Platinum pods work well, I tried others and had the same result as with plain detergent.

Costco now seems to sell Platinum+, which is in no way better than Platinum but more expensive. I don't recall the last sale price but this is about the same or actually cheaper.

These cause my dishwasher to leak. Workaround is to cut open the liquid portions before putting the pod into the dispenser.
