For some reason, this took a little bit of work. I've had two previous accounts that I've been canceled, but I wouldn't give me the offer so I had to use an alternate email address and alternate credit card as well to get the offer to work.

The CEO just let slip on an earnings call that Disney makes more profit on the ad-supported version so the ad-free price was increased to drive people to the ad-supported version.

I think the better deal now would be thru Walmart+, which is currently at 50%-off again. $50 for both Walmart+ and Paramount+. Although it's only a good deal if you use Walmart+. Or if there's a credit card or cashback site offer to go with it to bring the price down even further.
We had had Paramount for 3 months earlier from last year's BF deal and then 6 months free through Mint Mobile. But yes, getting Walmart+ is what I had been thinking about as it comes out to about $4.08/month at $49/year in addition to potentially using Walmart+. My wife wants Paramount for Star Trek as she's a Star Trek junkie. I'm hoping for a better deal on Walmart+, but we'll see.

Yes because not only do they make some money off of you for paying for ads but they also make money off of you for watching the ad thru ad revenue. So you just paid to give them access to more revenue.
Your best bet is all or nothing. Either pay for no ads so they make less money (But costs you more) or don't watch it at all. So thats less revenue coming in for them.

I've become an all or nothing person when it comes to streaming. I don't like ads so I don't listen to regular radio in the car, only ad free music streaming. most of what I watch is YouTube or Netflix right now. So it's not too expensive

I know this works with Gmail. I don't know about other emails. With Gmail, you could use the same email address by using a + sign . For example, instead of [email protected], you could use [email protected]. When an email is sent, Gmail would ignore the "+hulu", but it could be used for a different Hulu account.

That doesn't answer his question because that's a new account for hulu, so he'll lose his watch history.

I don't think there's anything to transfer the watch history.

They're not worth the full price, but for a dollar a month, it's a steal! Does anyone know if you can pay for the whole year upfront? I just signed up and paid for the first month. Thanks to the original poster for the savings!

Every year I cancel after about 6 months because the amount of ads discourages watching, and every year I renew to relearn the lesson. They even put ads before movie trailers!

Hulu needs a deal on ad-free memberships, because even $1/month with ads isn't very appealing.

streaming should be bundle package (Hulu, max, Disney)

$10/mo. 10% ads, 10 hr/wk cap
$25/mo. 1% ads, 40 hr/wk cap
$50/mo, no ads, 100hr/cap. new movie use 4-10 hr

these super low sub ain't gonna last for $500M movies and $20M-50M licensing

30 minute shows have 1 short ad, hour shows have 2 ads, movies have 3 ads
This is an outright lie and content source, popularity, and age matters. Bob's Burgers is 21 minutes long. It opens with an ad, has an ad at 6 minutes, an ad at 11 minutes and an ad at 16 minutes. Schitt's Creek is 21 minutes long. It opens with an ad, an ad at 12 minutes and an ad at 16 minutes. Interior Chinatown is 42 minutes long opens with an ad and has 3 ads jammed into the second 20 minutes. Just a few examples.

I don't understand why some consumers are out to screw companies. It's best when consumers have a good deal AND companies are profitable. It's unsustainable unless both are true.

If the plan I like gives the company a better profit, that's a good thing.

What in the world is wrong with the Disney login process? This whole one login across all their sites is garbage. Try to log in and it says more than once that the name/password combo isn't right but I know it is and then after about the third time it finally goes to the 2FA and sends a code to my email. (Using a password manager so it's not a typo issue) (Use it all the time for ESPN Fantasy, so know it's correct)

Somehow, wife used her email last year to create a new hulu account with an email that was already in use for other Disney stuff. Set up a new password for Hulu but then it didn't cascade to the other sites. About a month of fighting with their stupid system every time we had to login to one or the other as it kept pingponging the passwords back and forth. Finally just did a password reset on each site individually and consolidated to a single password including "resetting" Hulu to the password it was already set for. (Explain why a system would let you do that. Reset to the password already in use)

Has worked okay since then other than this refusal to admit it's the right password for 2 or 3 attempts.

Disney: wrong password.
Me: No it's right.
Disney: wrong password, would you like to reset the password?
Me: NO, It's right!
Disney: Ha, just messing with you. Sending two factor now.

Scares me a lot about account security.

Because companies screw put their customers. Have you not followed the pricing history on nearly every product or service.
I'm all for companies making money as long as they are giving out a good product or good service. But to keep raising prices and providing subpar service or products that's ridiculous. Especially when they are bringing in record profits.
I get it, they need to make money in order to stay in business but if they are making money without any regard to their customer base then no. I don't want them to be making money hand over fist.
Take disney+ for example. They have a few good shows, but then you pay and they remove some shows because it isn't profitable enough for them. Really? Your losing that much you have to get rid of some shows? With no options for people to watch it later. Or buy it because they won't release physical media for streaming only shows.

Or take disneyland for instance. They've increased prices yet removed so many perks. For the longest time they removed parades and meet and greets yet their pricing went up not down. They aren't adding value but taking value away. you're paying more for less.

So in a way to best respond to your comment. It's all about what you perceive is of value to you. If you think paying them a fee so they can generate even more money off of you by wasting your time to view ads and provide mediocre service. Then great. It works out for you. For me too many companies are putting out crap that I don't feel is worth it.
To each is own. Good luck and enjoy.

added: at least YouTube provides their videos/service for free. you just have to put up with watching an annoying amount of ads for that service. but with other services... imagine paying $6 -$8 a month and still end up watching that many ads. yeah no. not for me.

I got the Disney + deal I logged into it but I can't seemed to log into Hulu. I see Disney plus now has a Hulu button in the app. Is that the only way access Hulu? I cannot use the dedicated Hulu app?
I have the same problem. Got the bundle. Don't even see a Hulu icon anywhere on the Disney app. Tried logging onto Hulu directly but it did not work. Disney email acknowledgment says I have HULU. Anyone have an answer?
