Yes because not only do they make some money off of you for paying for ads but they also make money off of you for watching the ad thru ad revenue. So you just paid to give them access to more revenue.
Your best bet is all or nothing. Either pay for no ads so they make less money (But costs you more) or don't watch it at all. So thats less revenue coming in for them.
I've become an all or nothing person when it comes to streaming. I don't like ads so I don't listen to regular radio in the car, only ad free music streaming. most of what I watch is YouTube or Netflix right now. So it's not too expensive
That doesn't answer his question because that's a new account for hulu, so he'll lose his watch history.
I don't think there's anything to transfer the watch history.
Hulu needs a deal on ad-free memberships, because even $1/month with ads isn't very appealing.
streaming should be bundle package (Hulu, max, Disney)
$10/mo. 10% ads, 10 hr/wk cap
$25/mo. 1% ads, 40 hr/wk cap
$50/mo, no ads, 100hr/cap. new movie use 4-10 hr
these super low sub ain't gonna last for $500M movies and $20M-50M licensing

I don't understand why some consumers are out to screw companies. It's best when consumers have a good deal AND companies are profitable. It's unsustainable unless both are true.
If the plan I like gives the company a better profit, that's a good thing.
Somehow, wife used her email last year to create a new hulu account with an email that was already in use for other Disney stuff. Set up a new password for Hulu but then it didn't cascade to the other sites. About a month of fighting with their stupid system every time we had to login to one or the other as it kept pingponging the passwords back and forth. Finally just did a password reset on each site individually and consolidated to a single password including "resetting" Hulu to the password it was already set for. (Explain why a system would let you do that. Reset to the password already in use)
Has worked okay since then other than this refusal to admit it's the right password for 2 or 3 attempts.
Disney: wrong password.
Me: No it's right.
Disney: wrong password, would you like to reset the password?
Me: NO, It's right!
Disney: Ha, just messing with you. Sending two factor now.
Scares me a lot about account security.

Because companies screw put their customers. Have you not followed the pricing history on nearly every product or service.
I'm all for companies making money as long as they are giving out a good product or good service. But to keep raising prices and providing subpar service or products that's ridiculous. Especially when they are bringing in record profits.
I get it, they need to make money in order to stay in business but if they are making money without any regard to their customer base then no. I don't want them to be making money hand over fist.
Take disney+ for example. They have a few good shows, but then you pay and they remove some shows because it isn't profitable enough for them. Really? Your losing that much you have to get rid of some shows? With no options for people to watch it later. Or buy it because they won't release physical media for streaming only shows.
Or take disneyland for instance. They've increased prices yet removed so many perks. For the longest time they removed parades and meet and greets yet their pricing went up not down. They aren't adding value but taking value away. you're paying more for less.
So in a way to best respond to your comment. It's all about what you perceive is of value to you. If you think paying them a fee so they can generate even more money off of you by wasting your time to view ads and provide mediocre service. Then great. It works out for you. For me too many companies are putting out crap that I don't feel is worth it.
To each is own. Good luck and enjoy.
added: at least YouTube provides their videos/service for free. you just have to put up with watching an annoying amount of ads for that service. but with other services... imagine paying $6 -$8 a month and still end up watching that many ads. yeah no. not for me.
