For some reason, this took a little bit of work. I've had two previous accounts that I've been canceled, but I wouldn't give me the offer so I had to use an alternate email address and alternate credit card as well to get the offer to work.

The CEO just let slip on an earnings call that Disney makes more profit on the ad-supported version so the ad-free price was increased to drive people to the ad-supported version.

I can't believe some people complain about some ads. It is only 99 cents per month and Hulu has a lot of solid content worthy to watch. I have 3 other main streaming sites too and I have been using Hulu more than them. I got rid of Netflix long time ago and don't have any interest in them. I watch OTA television so I guess that I am used to commercials that seeing some ads don't bother me.
You ARE too used to OTA and companies that charge you and make gonzo money monetizing you at the same time. Forget about this $1 deal when you compare Disney regular price to other ad subscriptions and then compare the amount / quality of add delivery it's enough to make many users leave vs pay for no-ads. Their also glitchy for rewind/search, enough to make you mad. Don't settle because you're "used to it", vote with your wallet to make them improve.

FYI: This is coming from a disney shareholder.... it's crap! There is a sweat spot for ads and the services who understand that they will benefit in the long run by hitting that sweet spot

You would have to add Max.

Max is $2.99/month for 6 months right now. No need to buy Hulu for that deal.

Anyone had any problems connecting to Hulu?
I signed up through Disney Plus for the duo plan (with only Hulu) @$3/month. Access to Disney is fine, but I cannot access Hulu at all. The online instructions won't let me get to the "my subscription" screen where allegedly you can add services. .

A couple dozen pages earlier people were talking about having to activate Hulu when signing up from the Disney side.

Don't forget to use your Discover for payment - if like me you don't use it for other purchases. Discover waives any monthly balance under $2 and the only thing I charge to my Discover card is this deal
So won't work for Disney + just Hulu. Thanks for heads up

I am just not a Karen and make a mountain out of a molehill. The content for a whopping 99 cents per month clearly makes up for the minor inconvenience of ads. There is a reason why this has +2479 thumbs up at this moment and a very small percentage of Karens thumb down this deal. The thumbs up clearly says it all.

Yep. The broadcasters probably don't realize it, but too many ads is part of the reason they are failing now too after Netflix came along and reminded everyone what it is like without any ads.

Some of the really old TV shows are 50 minutes long, meaning they used to only have about 10 minutes of ads per hour. Then in the 70s and 80s they went to 45 minute long shows. Now days it is 40-42 minute episodes. 20 minutes per hour or 60 minutes of ads during the 3 hours of primetime is ridiculous.

The biggest problem with Hulu and other streaming services is showing the same ad during every commercial break. 15 minutes isn't too bad (10 would be better) but the same ad 5 times an hour is seems worse than 20 minutes of ads on the broadcast networks.
You nailed it! Not only having excessive ads shoved down your throat, but repeat ads are just terrible. I don't mind watching ads, there are ads that are better than what I'm watching. But watching the same ads 4 times during a movie is excessive.

Yeah, I got the Hulu signed up with a new email, and then later, got an email telling my old account to "Come back" and offered the 99¢ HULU and the $2.99 Disney+, but no way to just add the $2.99 Disney+ to the new Hulu account.
