Everyone please go to the reviews and sort them by the most recent reviews. They are a crap ton of negative reviews from the most recent buyers and everybody is complaining about the plastic clips either breaking or not closing or not fitting right. everyone is mentioning the plastic clips.
Again go into the reviews and then sort the reviews by the most recent you'll see that all the top most recent reviews are negative as hell. Save your money cuz this ain't it!
For this price you are literally better off buying a plastic one that's larger at Walmart.
The plastic clips that hold these up will being the failing point. At least the plastic shelving ones don't use clips.

The plastic clips are friction fit between metal. I'm not sure if it's possible for them to break.

Anyone else who might still be on the fence about this product again I ask that you look at the reviews when you look at the product type you will see if there's a mix of reviews for 4 shelf and 5 shelf. So essentially these 4,500 reviews are a mix of different items.
Also extremely suspect is that a good portion of the reviews are in completely different languages.

Darn, I really wanted to pull the trigger on the black version but you're right. The headache that will come from this is definitely not worth it

All the plastic ones I have purchased ended up bending in the middle, one even completely broke and fell over.
No thanks....

The shelves can be installed even if the plastic sleeves don't close. It's just a stupid design. I suspect that they're using 1/2 inch collars on 3/4 inch tubing. I returned these shelves and went with something else.
I just assembled the 72" version of this same shelf yesterday and the clips were the same as ANY metal wire shelf I've bought in the last 30 years. Maybe there are good and bad batches, but the quality was great for me.
I do suspect Amazon basics might source multiple manufacturers in some cases. Still not sure why there's hate. A 72" chrome wire shelf for $37 is great. I almost let similar comments stop me from purchasing this but the HD one was nearly double the price.

I had one fail and fall on me in my garage a few years ago. A black plastic one I bought from home depot 1, possibly 2 years prior. It randomly collapsed some in the middle and fell forward onto me. I did not have it secured to the wall, did not have it overloaded, had the weight (maybe 50 pounds on each of its 5 or 6 shelves... except the top one which was holding 2 plastic 5 gallon gas cans that were empty. ) evenly distributed both from side to side and front to back. Ironically, the other 3 sets of those shelves I bought that same day at home depot are still standing fine in my garage to this day (4 ish years).

I just purchased this one... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M0A4...title&th=1
It is the larger 72" x 36" unit with 350 lb capacity per shelf. It assembles with those same plastic clips and I was concerned as some of them the notches did not close completely. Once the shelves were in place though, it seems to be very sturdy. For the price, I doubt you could do better.
I do have another wire shelf I bought for the pantry years ago. It actually had the uprights screw into the shelves. That does seem to be a sturdier way to build them but you can not choose the spacing of the shelves and I think it was over $100.
